Brian – I love the possibilities. Can’t wait to see it finished.
porsche917ModeratorBrian – Good luck with the older tires. I have never had much luck with them. I would true them down to get a new surface on them and put lighter fluid on them but they were never as good as new tires so I stopped putting in the effort to try to resurrect them.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorMark – I think its best for him to have the track up and running before we head over.
porsche917ModeratorBrian – I love your choices. Traditions are not holding you back my friend.
porsche917ModeratorMore information about using NSR tires on Slot.it/Policar wheels
I noticed that NSR produces a special rear tire to work on Slot.it wheels – #5262Black. Once I noticed they produced a unique tire for Slot.it wheels I looked a little deeper at the differences between NSR and Slot.it wheels and discovered there is a 0.10mm difference between the center rib on the wheels. All Slot.it wheels use a center rib that is 5.1mm wide while all the NSR wheels use a center rib that is 5.0mm wide.
Discovering this I thought there would be an issue in using NSR tires on Slot.it wheels. Then I measured the NSR tires and discovered that the center rib on the tires measures anywhere from 5.1mm to 5.25mm so I don’t think mounting NSR tires to Slot.it wheels will be an issue.
Having said that, I would definitely make sure the tires were properly glued to the wheels. At 12 volts you don’t want the tires coming off of the wheels.
porsche917ModeratorI will be running the Ford Capri RS2600 from the 1973 Nurburgring 6 hour race. The car was driven by K. Fritzinger (D) and H. Heyer (D).
porsche917ModeratorI hope to be running the NART Ferrari P412 #25 from the 1967 Le Mans with Pedro Rodriguez and Giancarlo Baghetti at the wheel.
porsche917ModeratorAll Policar Ferrari 412P’s are legal. See the chart below for the four models.
Note – it’s my understanding that only the CAR06c comes with the aluminum rear wheels under the base in the packaging. Let me know if there are more models that come with the spare aluminum wheels.

porsche917ModeratorPower will be 12.5 volts – just like we ran in last year’s series.
porsche917ModeratorI agree that 40 is a real test. I think it also gives you some extra laps to claw back some time if you need to. I say keep it at 40.
porsche917ModeratorDavid – John is the race manager.
Datto – the stock front tires are legal, they are considered 10mm.
Datto – Yes, you can shape the guide. Rounding the corners or putting a finer point on the front, sanding down the sharp edges, sanding the rear of the guide so it does not catch on the chassis – all legal just as long as you are using a Slot.it guide.
porsche917ModeratorDatto – I just looked up the Group 2 cars from the European Touring Car championship on the Racing Sports Cars website. It looks like the Scirocco first raced in 1975 whereas the other cars all raced earlier in the 70’s. I would leave this up to the race director.
porsche917ModeratorDatto – the decision to allow the Scirocco is up to the series manager. We discussed it and felt the car would be outside the time frame for the current car list and may offer an advantage due to the shorter rear end on the car. I would say this is still up for discussion with the series manager.
porsche917ModeratorIn looking at running the Policar classic F1 cars for the 2023 season I did a deeper dive into all of the models to see if there were any significant differences between them.
All of the cars with the exception of the two newest Lotus cars are basically all the same. The two Lotus cars that are outside the norm have rear wheels/tires that are wider than all the others. Both of these cars could be allowed to run in the series as long as they change their rear wheels/tires to match the ones on all the other cars.
Here is a complete list for comparison.
