Period: H2, July – December (1 round per month)
The Group B era marked one of the most thrilling yet most tragic periods in the history of world rallying. The Group B regulations fostered some of the fastest, most powerful, and most sophisticated rally cars ever built and their era is commonly referred to as the golden era of rallying. However, a series of major accidents, some fatal, were blamed on their outright speed with lack of crowd control at events and driver safety. Finally after the death of Henri Toivonen and his co-driver Sergio Cresto in the 1986 Tour de Corse, the FIA banned Group B from competing in the WRC at the end of the 1986 season.
The Austin Slot Car Club will relive some of the great battles from Group B on our rebuilt rally track. Join us for the fun by running your car or watching the action on our YouTube channel. The dates for the races are July 2th,
