Tuning Workshop

I’ve been reflecting on some things discussed at our last racing session this past Saturday.  Marty and I were bouncing around ideas to help keep new people interested so they don’t quit after a few races.  I floated the idea of doing a tuning workshop again, like we did several years ago with Group C.  Jeff chimed in, rather passionately, about the importance of tuning to enjoy racing and actually be competitive.  He made some great points and something really stuck out to me: tuning is different for different tracks.  I’ve been reflecting on that and thinking about how it’s also different for different cars.  I have picked up a lot of excellent high value tuning tips from you guys.  Reflecting on all this, I realized a big missing piece for me is how to diagnose what I need to change after I’ve done the fundamental tuning bits (chassis bake, tire truing, making sure guide returns to center, try to keep the weight balanced, etc)  I still struggle with “my car is doing this, what should I change?”  I know you guys don’t want to give away all your secret sauce, so to speak.  You’ve spent years learning things and you’ve earned the right to let some of your best tricks be your tricks.  But what if we did a tuning workshop that gave everyone a better understanding of responsive tuning?  I feel like this would help people understand how to improve their car’s performance without you guys feeling pressured to share your “secret recipes”.  Thoughts?
