I checked with two friends of mine that make custom wood furniture, as a hobby and small second income, and both said the pit box prices for all the boxes we were looking at was about what they would expect. Neither of them could build a box any cheaper no matter what the volume. It looks like we either build our own, buy a tackle box, or buy one from the listed suppliers. I would like to say I have the time to build one but I am currently working on this slot car project at a hobby shop. I know, you have heard that one.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorI am in. Would Thursday nights be used as a practice/set up day?
Marty
porsche917ModeratorI would stick with Slot It gears and tires so Kings can stock and sell the parts we use and suggest other racers use. I am good with everything else but those two points.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorThe NTC boxes have a listed weight of 15 to 16 pounds empty. That could get up to the 20+ pound range really quick with all the tools and supplies in them.
Ary – Have you heard anything back from the guy at NTC about a possible discount?
Marty
porsche917ModeratorThen its the same list less those two. Can we please pick the rules so we can all start to work on our cars so they are in line with them.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorI know you said you did not like JC’s designs but he can build anything you want and will give us a 25% discount for an order of four boxes. If its a build quality issue than price is not the issue. Let me know what your thinking.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorGuys,
I e-mailed this guy about his boxes and asked if he would work a discount for four identical boxes. He wants to call me tomorrow to discuss. Let me know your thoughts.

I was thinking about the Racer Box at the bottom of the page. This guy sells some boxes on Ebay and his basic box can be picked up for $86
I will let you know how the conversation goes.

porsche917ModeratorI am all in favor of just selecting specific Slot It cars to run in the series. Here would be my list of cars we could run-
Porsche 962
Porsche 956
Nissan
Toyota
Sauber Mercedes
Jaguar XJR 9
Jaguar XJR 12
Mazda 787b
Audi R8
Lancia LC2Marty
porsche917ModeratorHere is another Slot It Challenge option from the Houston group.
Race 1: Slot.it Le Mans
Race any flavor of Lemans car you want as long as it’s a Slot.it with an
Orange end-bell motor (only), In-line driveline configuration (only), tuned to current Challenger rules (only).
Thoughts?
Marty
porsche917ModeratorAry,
Do you know what the inside dimensions are for the pull out drawers in the box you showed us yesterday?
Marty
porsche917ModeratorAry,
I have a couple I can bring for you to try out. Its not my cup of tea but they are interesting to watch.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorThe Slot It challenge is not open to all cars due to performance and looks.
The Slot It cars listed are evenly matched in weight and performance while all being from a similar period in time. The idea is to have a race series that was as evenly matched as possible in performance and looks.

The Slot-It challenge sounds good. Is there a reason why other Slot-It cars are not listed? (Chaparral 2E???)

I went by King’s this afternoon with some cars. The track drives great! It is challenging and fun. I can see it will be a test to see which cars can go through “The Kink” on the lower level past the underpass without lifting. I was reluctant to try too hard with no outside border.
I think that the area between the tracks to the left of the driver’s station should be left flat (lower level) and we could decide later about a pit lane, podium, grandstand, or whatever. We could get the rest of the track finished first. The rest of the track can all be basic, but I would eventually like to see something in that area that looks like a real track.
Ary, the video of the track is terrific.
Catch up with you later,
Russellporsche917ModeratorAry,
I saw this post on Slot Car Illustrated and thought of you.

SICA12R2 Audi R8C – Reloaded RAW?
——————————————————————————–
Just got one of these and I have to say the speed it carries down the straights is simply awesome. It’s incredibly fast!
Just wondering though, did anyone else who bought one of these wonders find the included S2’s underneath where the wrong size?
They are absolutly huge and will in no way fit the rear wheels that came with the car which I beleive are 20×12.
Not a deal breaker as I have lots of the proper size S2’s on hand but I am just curious as to whether this was an oversight or these tires were included on purpose.
