Anyone up for running a two hour Trans Am endurance race? That way the two hours would actually feel like 24 hours. Just kidding of course.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorShawn,
I don’t understand why you would not count and lap under 4.1 seconds. We are racing right? If you can run faster than the others shouldn’t you be allowed to do so? I think this is more apart of putting the correct teams together. It would not be fair to have Ary and you on a team against the others. We could use the results from the first round of the slot it challenge to pair teams. What does everyone else think?

porsche917ModeratorGuys,
This weekend will be tough for me as I have my dad’s brother in town from Minnesota. I plan on being at the track on Saturday but I can’t commit to any large amount of time right now. Things subject to change without notice.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorI am so up for this! Lets pick a date and put it on the calendar. We could maybe do it the weekend before LeMans.

porsche917ModeratorTo encourage more club members to participate in the BRM Series I would be willing to stock all the BRM Porsche parts so all club members would have to purchase is the car. This way no one will have to worry about purchasing a full set of spares to get their car tuned and/or repaired. The only way I would do this is if we can get a grid of at least six BRM’s. At present we have a grid of four – Ary, Shawn, Brian and me. Let me know if any more of you would be interested in participating in this series.
As a heads up. The down side of the series is you have to use only BRM parts but the good news is there are a limited number of those. Its not like you have multiple motor’s or motor pods or different axles and wheels and you only have three rear tire choices. You buy a car and spend $39 and you have as good a car as anyone else in the series. I have more invested in parts in any of my Slot It race cars.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorAry,
I love that car. I have one but have not built it. Great car with a great history.
The Lowenbrau Porsche 962-HR1 is the most sucessful 962 in history. With a chassis built by Andial, with Porsche’s blessing, and the motor tweaked by Springer to change it from an endurance spec racer to a shorter distance, rougher course winner and all done in the States. All that directed by the best race car driver/engineer ever – Al Holbert.

March 26, 2011 at 10:50 AM in reply to: EDITED:Getting ready to host the 2011 Fly Truck Proxy Racing #1267porsche917ModeratorI am in. I can do either one Sunday or two. If I were forced to choose I would go for a one day event.
The advantage of one day is the track will be the same for everyone from start to finish. The downside is that we won’t be as sharp at the end of the day as we might be if we split it into two sessions.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorShawn,
Are you sure there is no way you would consider dropping one of the last two races?
Marty
porsche917ModeratorBrian,
Speaking of using all BRM parts. Have you seen the new BRM controller? 😯
Marty
porsche917ModeratorBrian,
Will we have to decide on Saturday what race we are planning to drop or will those who are in a tight points battle have some time to evaluate their decision and look over the lap count data for each race so they can make a more educated decision?
This might be something we request everyone to look at before Saturday so they understand the implications of their decision on what race they will drop.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorDone!
Marty
porsche917ModeratorAry,
Speaking to your issue with the BRM rules and the fact that only BRM parts can be used – I was reading the forums last night to see if there were any updated 2011 BRM rules and came accross something that Alan wrote about using the motor shim in the older Porsche chassis. He said that once you install the motor shim you cannot tighten the motor holder down all the way as it will flex the chassis and possibly break it. The approved solution is to use BRM front axle spacers between the motor holder and the chassis. Only BRM axle spacers will be allowed. Don’t even think of using some off the shelf washer for this application. Anyone need the part number for BRM’s brass axle spacers? S-001W.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorGuys,
I am good with running both a Slot It and BRM Regional. I e-mailed Alan this past weekend and from his response it sounded like two drunks racing on a two lane Carrera set in someones garage can qualify as a regional as long as it has been promoted on his forum and all BRM’s use only BRM parts. My e-mail and his response are below.
Dear Alan,
Here are the questions I have from your response to my posting on the 2011 BRM Nationals.
1. I know there are rules for the BRM cars but is there a Regional race format that you want all of the races to be run to? You can run any Format you want but must run using the Scaleracing rules for the Brands represented.
2. When it comes to promoting the event what are we allowed to post on the forum? You should post all information on the SCI Forum, no linking to other Sites.
a. Link on the forum to a webpage with information about the event. No the SCI Site is where all Promotion of the Events must take place, the purpose is to show the World we are racing BRM, Scaleauto, Avant Slot and other Brands. SCI gets over 120,000 unique visitors a Month so it is a great place to promote the Events and build interest.
b. Link to our club’s website showing pictures of the track and pre-event practice information. I prefer to have all images Hosted on SCI as this Site will never delete or edit images so no red X will ever appear. If you host and write up the Event on SCI I will allow a link to your Site at the bottom of the Report.
3. Do you already have a schedule of the other regional races? I want to make sure we do not overlap with any race. There is no concern regarding conflict of Events the more the better, however if you announce your date I would encourage others close to you to choose a different date if they wish to hold a Regional as well.
4. If we hold a Regional how many people from that regional will automatically be qualified to attend the national? That depends on how many Regional’s are held, but anyone wishing to attend the National Finals will be given the chance to qualify for the Main Event.
5. Will those that do not win our Regional still be able to go to Nationals and enter a qualifying event? Yes.
6. What other requirements, if any, do you have for our club to put on a regional? The requirements are that you hold the Event using the Scaleracing rules for the Brands mentioned, and that everything is hosted and promoted on SCI, Pre Race announcements, schedule, and Race Report must be hosted on https://www.slotcarillustrated.com. This is critical as it shows everyone what is happening and Builds interest in this form of racing. SCI is the place for Scaleracing.
Cheers
Alan
porsche917ModeratorRoy,
Ary, Russell and I have tickets for Saturday. The movie starts at 11am, the doors open at 10:30am and they suggest you get there one hour before the doors open to make sure you get a seat. If you don’t get a seat you can get a refund at the Paramount box office. I hope we get in. If not, we have Thursday to fall back on.
Marty
porsche917ModeratorI have an extra braid brush I purchased from Professor Motor a few months ago and have no need for it. I would be willing to sell it for what I paid for it.
