Is everyone available on the 16th of July?  We could use this as our BRM regional since it is so far out we have time to promote it on SCI.

I would like to propose a move of the BRM Endurance Race to July 2nd.  That is July 4th weekend and some of you may have holiday plans so please get back to me and let me know if this weekend will work for you.  I would like to hear back from everyone by the 11th so we can put it on the calendar.

          Jim and All,

I thougth we would continue with it but I am very open to moving it to the 25th of June.  This would allow me to watch more of LeMans when it is on Speed.  I will bring it up today with the group and see what everyone would like to do.

Fantastic work Dr. Barbosa.  I appreciate the detailed explanation.  This helps explain the reason why Scaleauto crown gears do not have the channel for the motor shaft on them.  I wonder if their pinions and crowns share the same pitch?  These might be an interesting option to try out.

              Jim and All,

The track fee’s have always been in place but it’s always been up to Kings to collect the funds.  Rudy talked to me last week about the fact they have not had anyone pay for using the track.  I told them it would be up to them to collect the fees and the club would do a better job on letting everyone know about the fee’s.  I will have a better track fee sign to put up in the club area next week.

Don’t worry about the past fees.  I would like for everyone to pay from this point forward and do so without Kings having to ask because chances are they won’t.

I am in.  Have you called Jim to make sure the track is open that night?  I would hate to make the trip and find out there is a birthday party using the yellow track.

I called Alamo Karts and they are open from noon to 10pm on Friday.  There is no club racing on Friday night and the track is open to the general public.  Fee $20 for 10 minutes or buy five races and get one free.  We could easily split the races between us and pay the reduced rate.

                Who else is in?

                    Jim,

How do you think you would have felt after doing two more 20 minute heats?

How was the wear on the following items?

                        Tires-Rear

                        Tires-Front

                        Braid

                        Bushings

Did you stop to clean the tires at any time?  Did your front tires pick up rubber and cause the front to bounce?

Any suggestions you have for the upcoming endurance race?

                    Thanks,

                    Marty

I don't know if it's as much about the motor as it is about selecting the proper gearing.  I fully understand what you guys are talking about but have found I just need to focus more on what crown and pinioin to use.  Don't misunderstand me, I would never turn down a 20K motor but if I have a 17K one I will do my best gearing work to end up with a rear wheel RPM of 7.3K.  Its not the best but it will keep you compeitive.

Being on the 3rd place bubble I can say that the racing has become much closer than it was in January.  This is all part of everyone learning how to match the gearing to the motor RPM.

With only four BRM racers present at the track it was impossible to follow through on the BRM races using the team format as we had discussed earlier. Instead we ran four racers – Jim, Roy, Marty and Maxwell (using Ary’s car). We ran five minute heats with three people running and two people marshalling.

The racing was great. It was everything we have come to expect from BRM races – close times and lots of fun. The one thing that we did not experience was any mechanicals. It looks like everyone is getting better at setting up their BRM’s for speed and durability as there were no mechanicals and the lap times were low.

When its all said and done the top three were separated by only five laps. Great racing!

I hope we can all get together and run in the team format we discussed earlier. I know it will be loads of fun.

How many people are you thinking? How many marshals? How many of us racing at the same time? Maybe we could run 4 at a time so we have some marshals.

I am all for it. Lets come up with a date and make the road trip. We could include a trip up the road (10 miles) to the go kart track!

I just want to make sure I have the format down for tomorrow’s BRM race.

Team selection based on Slot It Challenge points standings and driver availability. Here is an example of what tomorrow’s pairings would look like.
                              Ary – Roy
                              Shawn – Jim

Each driver driving 5 minute heats in each lane
2 minute break between each 5 minute heat

                              Track Voltage
                              10 volts

                              Car Specifications
                              Stock BRM’s running red motors
                              All BRM parts are allowed

Is this the format we are using for this Saturday’s race? If so, how are we picking the two driver teams?

I like the idea of 10 minute heats with two minute breaks. Everyone runs red motors?
