This Thursday evening I opened the tire trueing machine cabinet and notice two tires still mounted on the high tech truer.  The machine was covered in rubber, but the compressor would not blow away the tire dust.  There was oil/(lighter fluid? ) fused or compounded with rubber.  I prefer the other truer so I just put the mess back in the shelf.

Some one please clean the machine and take the tires.  It only seems fair that who ever left it messed up should clean it

How many rear tire sets should we expect to use during the series including 100’s of practice laps?  Are we also using  new sponge front tires pre-mounted on wheels?

Tremendous praise to Marty for snagging the back-up data and for Stephen suffering through the storm and data for a couple of hours to get the tables for Russell.  I really like the blue/green/yellow coding on the individual heat table.  Thanks true servants of the club.

My Dad the Radial tire engineer discovered that the tires did not cool like bias ply tires.  The hook conveyor usually used to move hot tires from the curing mold machines would leave the radial tires out of round.  It required the addition of a machine at the press called a post cure inflater that kept the tire round during cool down,  and a ring around the tire blew cool air on the outside.  Getting the slot car tires solid and round probably is one of the major failures we see in our scale tires.  Good luck.

And who carries the wheels that I did not fin on the first two sites I checked.  Also what tires and which vendor?  I know we are a few months away from running even practice, but I don’t want to get caught without the tires.

I expect to run the Porsche I ran last year that has yellow marking number 64.  My car has a different number to distinguish it from the factory version.

Thanks to Marty for ferreting out the set up issues that vary over the production run of the McL cars and thanks to the members for helping us resolve the issues last Saturday.  I hope John beats us all with the car that seems to have inherited the real McL dna.

    The rules are done.

i put a dark orange motor in place of the orange one in the 48 McLaren.  Slower lap times.

I’m available either evening.  It takes two to open the rally track.  I have the 908 and 312.  It would be good to have one of the top drivers handy.

I’ll bring my Ferrari 312 Policar.  Can we each run more than one car?

Test tonight with taller tires went OK.  I’m not sure they are 19″ zero grips.

I have found that the McLaren front axle rests on chassis posts under the axle where the grub screws would come up to adjust the axle.  My low profile Zero Grip tires do not come close to the track because of the posts.  I believe we need to amend the rules regarding chassis modification to allow removal of some axle post material to facilitate use of the grub screws to lower the axle.

The alternative is probably to run the taller profile ZeroGrip tire like a gt car would have.  I would prefer to prepare the M8D like our Group C cars with low profile tires in front
