Do you have a link to the NTC boxes?
turboman93ParticipantWhy was that Ary? I’ve seen these in person and they’re really nice and functional.
I’m interested in the Flight Box. I think that’s about the size I want.
turboman93ParticipantThanks for posting these, Brian.
turboman93ParticipantTo keep the cars even, you can’t add the Audi R8 or the Nissan R390. Those are far more stable and faster due to the chassis designs and wider wheels.
turboman93ParticipantWhat does the Challenger rules consist of?
turboman93ParticipantMarty,
I currently have a small tackle box but am leaning to something more like what Ary has posted. I also have a small Carrera 1/32 case to carry my cars. The tackle box has needle nose pliers, wire cutters, wire stripper, Slot.it puller and press, oils, M2 wrench, M2.5 wrench, small screw drivers, gears, pinions, washers, and other misc stuff. It’s currently a disaster and I need a better solution.

turboman93ParticipantThanks, Marty! Great video.
turboman93ParticipantSo grab a couple of cans of paint, some masking tape and get to it!! 😉
turboman93ParticipantI’ve only driven the short track at Mangatech and it was less than thrilling. I’ve driven the track at Race Haven in Toronto, ON and would recommend going if you have the time while up there. Ron is a great guy and I like just sitting down and chatting with him. MiniGrid up in Toronto has a 4 lane 22m Scalextric track but haven’t raced on it. It’s a club track and not open to the public. Lastly, I’ve raced on Monovell’s (Tom) track up in Denver, CO and it’s a painted Carrera track. Very technical and difficult to drive as a first timer.
turboman93ParticipantAry,
They are S2 silicone tires. Either 19×10 or 20×11 depending on the car they came with.

turboman93ParticipantMarty,
No, I just have a case that I keep all the tires in specific compartments with a piece of paper that tells me what tires are which. Low tech but it works. 😉

turboman93ParticipantI’ve spent the past 2 couple of days driving on the track and have spent about 30-45 min running on each lane. I agree with Russell and have one other thing we need to address. The green lane has an issue on the main stright at the end. The back of the car it hitting the peg board that Russell leaned up against the back of the track. So we need to look at this with a 1/24 car. Marty can you please bring a BRM car on Saturday so we can look at how to address this?
So far, I’m absolutely loving the track. It’s got a great flow and a nice little technical section to keep it interesting. In my opinion, the green lane is the most difficult, the blue is the easiest and the yellow is in between. I’m starting to have a very great affection for the yellow lane.
Marty and I have started talking about types of tires to use. We’ve both agreed that we don’t want to allow silicone tires. They require a very smooth and glossy finish of which we don’t have and they also pickup the rubber that gets laid down with rubber and urethane tires. So far, I’m seeing excellent results with Super Tires Yellow Dog tires and the Slot.it P6 are very consistent. We need to figure out a good way to clean off the track and there’s just tons of dust on the track and I’m cleaning tires every couple of laps. Because of the grit in the track surface, I’m getting a very nice truing of the tires when driving.
Guys, excellent work! Thanks for everyone’s hard work on making this track a reality. When I met Marty back in Decemeber, I never imagined we’d have a track up and running 9 months later. Thanks to everyone!!
turboman93ParticipantPhotobucket has been updated with the latest pictures. That’s to all who helped today working on getting the adhesive tape down.

turboman93ParticipantAry,
Not easy way to do this. I had the guide system on the SCX cars. They are actually worse than the Scalextric cars and I didn’t think that was possible. I looked at doing this on a proxy rally car and abandoned the idea due to the amount of work needed to convert the guide. Don’t like that car that much to invest the time.
