I’m in for this, but our fridge is nowhere big enough to “fuel” a race of this duration with beer and sodas 😀 .

For classic F1, are the skinny tire cars part of the equation? Either way, I am in favor of retaining the button magnets.

Classic GT would also be cool. I am anxious to see the list of classic GT’s.

    My .02 cents worth….

    Shawn,
Excellent tips, thank you. I have several white body kits and rattle cans of Tamiya paint and primer. The only thing I’m missing is Tamiya clear. I was thinking of trying the Future floor “wax” for the clear coat. I’ve read you can spray it thru your airbrush straight out of the bottle without diluting it, and you have water/windex cleanup. It flows out real nice, and presents a pretty durable finish once dried.

    Shawn,

Once again, two excellent paint jobs. They look far better in person than what the photos depict.

I forgot to ask you yesterday, do you prime the bodies first, and if so, with Tamiya primer? I was wondering if white bodies could be painted without the primer if they were first washed with Simple Green and plenty of warm water to remove any traces of mold release still on the body?

    Thanks.

I’m in with possibly the purple Jag again. I will know more after testing this weekend.

    Marty,

If we land a BRM Regional, I guess you’ll have to take down those beautiful new track controller holders since they are not BRM-Branded. What about the braid on the track and, ohmygod, the track paint? BRM, I hope 😀

    Marty,

I have a few chores to do around the house, but I did want to build a sidewinder McLaren and test it tomorrow. I will probably be there sometime between 12:30 and 1:00. I don’t think I will stay more than 2 hours.

Great job Ary!!!! Even a technically-challenged idiot like myself can follow your setup instructions. You have set the bar at an unbelievable height. Thank you so much for all your hard work to benefit the club.

    Clyde,

I believe I bought the last 2 Parma 25 Ohm controllers from Kings. They have the Scalextric plug on the end as I was going to use them with my home track.

I think your best bet is Professor Motor. They sell them for less than I paid at Kings.

    Ary,

Since I’m not running the BRM 1/24th class, count me in for the El Piloto series. I have set aside the $40. I really don’t care about trophys, but whatever the club wants to do.

    Ary,

I would say by the way the rules currently are written for Modern F1, this mod would be legal. You are still using the Scaley wheel and are not gluing on the F22’s, only modifying the rim to accept Slot.It tires. Am I correct in my assumptions?

Also, what size and how many o-rings did you have to install on the rims to make the ridge wide enough? I think I still have a square edged o-ring belt taken from an old movie projector. You could cut a length of o-ring to wrap around each edge of the rim and carefully glue it in place with Walthers Goo. If I can find the belt, I’m sure there is enough material to do as many as 8 rims. Once the glue dries, sand the square o-ring to match the wheel ridge height.

I’ve had a tough time truing F22’s. They are almost as bad as F15’s as far as graining goes, and I do go very slow with the sanding process. When I tried to round the corners, it just led to more issues with the tire, no matter what grit of sandpaper I tried.

    Racers,

FYI, I just checked with Rudy at Kings. He has not contacted Super Tires yet about stocking Yellow Dog tires, but was going to try to fit them onto his plate today.

F1 Tires: Sunday, I was working on prepping my F1 Scaley car for testing and evaluation. I had purchased some Slot.It F1 tires to try, but because of the narrow raised band on the Scaley rear wheels, the Slot.It tires do not fit very well. When installed, they take on a concave tread profile, tend to move around on the wheel, and are difficult to true. Russell had suggested maybe we could add an o-ring to each side of the wheel raised center area prior to installing the Slot.It tire, and possibly they would cure the loose fit issue. I went ahead and trued the stock tires and installed them for now.

Not having used Yellow Dog tires before, does anyone know if they fit the Scaley wheel better than Slot.It F1 tires do?

    Ary,

Thank you for the adapter. I decided against taking it apart and I’m using the alligator clips to adapter method. As mentioned before, I am more than willing to pay you for it. I guess it would be a good idea to keep the Difalco stock in the event I go somewhere else to run and they don’t have the XLR setup.

After re-reading your first post and your latest response, I now understand what you meant by the track being dirty, only after you removed the plastic and all the captured roof debris fell on the track. Thank you for spending your time cleaning up the mess.

Shawn, I was not aware the owner’s son leaves his cars at the track. Next time I’ll know, and not be so concerned.

    See you guys tonite,

    Ary,

I took the XLR to alligator clip adapter. I will buy it from you as I need it for my new Difalco controller. I told Rudy I was taking it, so to not think I was stealing it. I am only going to use the XLR connector and pigtails. I will give you back the barrel assy to make a replacement adapter. If you want the whole thing back, let me know and I’ll make a trip to Radio Shack and pick up another male XLR plug.

I vacuumed the track Saturday after everyone left. I also gave Rudy 2 cars that apparently were left under the bench as I didn’t want them to disappear. One was a Scalextric Audi R10(?)and the other was a Dodge Viper.
