It should be difficult to get track time this coming Thursday night as this will be the last opportunity for everyone to get their GT Unlimited and Slot It Challenge cars ready for Saturday’s first round of the Q4 races.

The new GT Unlimited races series is new and very different from the clubs Slot It Group C Challenge races where car set up, preparation and driving are key.  The new series will allow competitors to use any parts and make any modifications to a modern GT car.  The variables this brings to car construction and set up are mind-boggling.  This series will put more emphasis on the car and less on driving as it will be the who has found the best combination of car and parts that should do well.

At present it looks likeRoyis the only racer that has selected his car – a used but not used up, El Piloto McLaren.  This car was one of the fastest cars in the series and should do well in the series.  To prove my point, Roy was getting in some practice time this past Saturday and was setting times in the 3.9’s and 4.0’s.

Shawn has been running a blue Nissan with extensive modifications.  He is still working to make it perfect but is no where nearRoy’s fast times.

Ary has driven a few different GT cars in the past year with his Ninco Porsche 911 GT3 being one of his favorites.  Ary has also run a Slot It McLaren.  It will be interesting to see what he takes out of his box tomorrow night to put the final tweaks on.

Brian has been away from the track on “vacation”.  Rumor has it that he was doing some top secret testing at a track somewhere in theMidwest.  He was working on an NSR Corvette and a BMW.  Lets see what he is running tomorrow night and how the time at his secret test track has helped.

Jim is always fast and always one to watch especially when it comes to a series with so many set up options as this one.  We have not see what he will be running but we can all be assured it will be fast.

Russell is another master of car construction and set up.  He is also the best scratch builder in the club.  It will be interesting to see what he runs and how fast it will be.  I know he was trying to get his NSR Corvette to work but was having some difficulty with the long can sidewinder motor set up.  Will he stay with the Corvette of move to a more proven set up like a Slot It McLaren, Nissan or Ferrari?

Marty was working on a Scaleauto Toyota GT1 but was having trouble getting the long can motor to work as well as the orange end bell in the Slot It Nissan is was also running.  There is also a rumor he might try running a Slot ItHSRchassis on a Fly modern GT body.  We should have a clearer idea tomorrow what he will run.

Thursday night will be everyone’s last chance to find the perfect set up for Saturday’s event.  Sounds like both days will be fun to watch!
