Last weekend, in tribute to the upcoming Le Mans 24 hour race, club members brought in some of the many slot cars of Le Mans race cars for a photo shoot. Leading the field was the 1955 Mercedes 300 SLR of Fangio and Moss, followed by Ferrari GTOs, a Cobra Daytona, Jaguar Lightweight, original Ford GT and later variations,Corvettes, all manner of Porsches, and later endurance cars. This is only a sampling of the number of Le Mans slot car replicas available. One of the great benefits of the slot car hobby is getting to race and display miniatures of famous race cars. For many of us, the cars that made impressions on us as youths remain as our favorites today. Hopefully the cars of today will provide the same lasting images for the young and the young at heart as those of the past.
