Race 5 Summary

Marty and Austin won their groups with Marty running a total of 221.37 laps in the A group while Austin ended up running a total of 205.27.  Fast lap for the A group was Marty’s as well with a lap time of 3.949 and Austin had fastest lap in the B group with a 4.113.

Things of note about this race.

This was the largest race field we had with 12 racers in attendance.  Everyone loves Group C.

Austin had a great race and let the B group of racers with a total of 205.27 laps – 4.87 laps a head of Jordan.

Russell set a blazing fast pace with his IMSA Porsche 962 after taking two races off.  His great pace was good enough to put him into second place.  Nice run Russell.

Shawn had a good run finishing third with a total of 216.40 laps.  Unfortunately Shawn will not be able to make the final round and will end up missing two rounds of the series and will drop down the leader board as a result.   Sorry about the timing Shawn.

Ary finished fourth with an ill handling Lancia.  I am sure the Lancia’s performance will see an improvement for the final round of the series.  It’s always great to see Ary racing from behind.

Roy finished fifth with a good run but too many de-slots.  Time away from the track and a car that was tail happy made it difficult for Roy to run with the leaders – this time.  I am sure he will be back for the final round running for a podium spot.

Brian had what could be considered a disappointing race after his car was running so well in the warm up session.  The Mercedes was a handful and Brian did a great job to keep it on the track and somewhat in contention.

Stephen and the Pink Panther were brilliant – at times.  The car lacked the consistency to get the laps it needed to be at the front.  The long tailed Porsche 962’s have always struggled on this track and the Pink Panther is no exception.

Jordan and Rich had an epic battle with Rich finishing about five inches in front of Jordan.  Great race for both competitors.  These guys are separated by only four points going into the final race.  The pressure will be on Rich to have a mistake free run and put some distance in the last race between he and Jordan while Jordan just has to run one of his consistent races that he has shown he can do.

Brett had a good run and was trying hard to stay out of the way of some of the faster racers while totaling as many laps as he could.  He is in a good position to finish third in the series as long as he can remain consistent and not lose too many points to David or Austin.

David’s race was very similar to Brett’s where he did a great job of staying out of everyone else’s race while trying to run as many laps as he could.  I don’t know of a more gentlemanly racer in the group than David.  He may not have totaled that many laps but he is highly respected by all the other racers and his day will come.  I would bet he will be on a podium very soon.  Someone get this man some F15’s!!

Can’t wait for the final round of the series to see who will be this year’s Group C champion!  See you all at the track on the 22nd.
