      I finally got my GT40 together and ran laps this afternoon. Pretty stable with one tungsten weight.

        Marty, let me know when you go to the new Pflugerville track.  I can bring my 1/24 BMW and group c Mercedes.  I don’t mind getting the BMW gooped up a little since we don’t seem interested in running those gt cars again.

        As a better option to me would be renting a car that they have set up.

          Radial TA found this in the 1972 Rally list.  Will run wider than 8mm tire class.

          SRC 52006 – Porsche 914/6 GT #118 – ’71 Monte Carlo Rally  The green and yellow car from last year that Steve drove for me during the heat of summer.

          Have not settled on a narrow tire car and may not bother.

            I have 3 1/24 scale cars including 2 that we ran previously.  BMW GT coupe and MB group C.  I would be glad to allow sponge tires and goop that fit inside of the fenders.  If tires outside of the fenders are the only option that would be ok too.  When do you think the regular racing would happen?

              I tested my 1/32 RevoSlot Alfa Romeo on the rally track yesterday and it does not hit the track on the main straight hump.  My tires have not been trued, so car is out-of-the-box ride height.  It took the turns fine, but the track was so dirty, by the third lap the tires lost grip up hill running clockwise.

                I think I would prefer to run a rental car of their classes like they offered when I visited a few years ago to check out the space.  The cars I have in 1/24 could also be run, but I would just as soon blend in with the natives, rather than look like we are staging an intervention.

                  Follow up on the Saturday comparison of Russ’s Alfa and my BMW, maybe I will be lobbying for required minimum weight of the cars.  My car seems to be way heavier, but prettier.  Welcome Scirocco.  If all else fails the shortage of Alfas might be filled by race series time.

                      I like the Alfas but they are on pre-order and I could not stand to wait when this car with the lovely striping was available.  I think we should wait for the next batch of cars.

                        I am good for the 40 laps.  I need the 10 laps to balance out the 20 laps of blunders.  I totally agree with the 8mm rear tire limit.  The wider 9mm limit accidentally let an A class Porsche 914 run in the B class.  The list of real entrants for Le Mans has Group numbers that seem to denote at least the engine capacity but also maybe other factors.  I do not think we should use the real Le Mans group numbers, but they are a good guide for figuring out a slot car for A or B modeling.  See below:

                        The diversity of the cars that have been and are being rallied is staggering. Since small citycar is no match for a big engined sports car, how should different types of cars relate to each others and should there be equality rules? In early days there were rules that penalized cars with bigger engines but currently the principle is to divide cars in groups and classes to compete against similar cars rather than against all the other cars.

                        From 2011, classes are no longer tied to specific groups but rather are a mix of similarly performing cars from different groups. This results a quite an impressive list of classes, at least for time being until older groups are phased out.

                        Since 1981, there have been two groups, N and A. These were introduced, alongside groups like B and S, to replace the original numeric groups 1 to 5 which were used in 1973-1981. To put it short, Group N is a standard car with very few modifications allowed whereas Group A is fully prepared racing car. Classes within group are based on cubic capacity of the car as follows.

                              BMW 91 Kleber Le Mans for Radial TA .  Kleber was the BFGoodrich French affiliate in the day.

                                Just ordered:

                                Policar PCAR04BMarch 701 Jackie Stewart in his tartan helmet.  Won’t be changing that livery and helmet.

                                RevoSlot RS0132 Alfa GTA dark blue #93  I think it raced at Mid-Ohio when I saw the races.  I cannot imagine changing the big fancy car number to avoid a duplicate, but it will be on the rally track by itself.  I will definitely run this for fun on the big track too.

                                BRM BMW Kleber 91 1975 Le Mans.  Kleber was the BFGoodrich French affiliate in 1958-1961 when we lived in Germany.  It became part of Michelin like BFG.

                                So I am done unless the Monte Carlo rally cars don’t get covered by what I have.

                                  At the original class selection meeting we had a paper with classes listed. The Monte Carlo 72-82 had a list of cars either specified or suggested for this period.  Can we get that list in a proposed form on our website?  Understanding there may be some overlap from the 2022 race that would either be in, or not, like our Porsche 914/6’s and 911’s.
