Radial TA found this in the 1972 Rally list. Will run wider than 8mm tire class.
SRC 52006 – Porsche 914/6 GT #118 – ’71 Monte Carlo Rally The green and yellow car from last year that Steve drove for me during the heat of summer.
Have not settled on a narrow tire car and may not bother.

Current plan is Renault Alpine for <8, and Lancia Stratos for >8. Both scratch builds

Progress on the Alpine. Body is looking better but still rough. Chassis was easy, hope it runs well.

Carry over from 1971. Still raced in 1972. I may not run a narrow tire car.

Group W entry, a Lancia Stratos. It looks like I may have stumbled on a mix of resins that combines decent surface quality and (we hope) sufficient durability. Slot.it running gear, still on the hunt for wheels and tires.

Tanner – I don’t think that car will be allowed as it has a metal chassis. Usually, only plastic chassis are allowed unless the series is for BRM or RevoSlot where those cars all run a metal chassis. I am not the series director but I am sure he will have rules posted shortly that will help everyone make a car selection.

Anyone planning a scratch-build should check out the decals at rally-miniature.fr
Decals came in for my Alpine and Stratos, and they are among the best I have used. Thin, strong and flexible. And the decal film os not over the entire sheet, but around the individual graphics, so it is much easier to work with than most of what is out there.

I found Bruno Saby out practicing in his Renault 5 Turbo. There is a possibility he will be entering the Monte Carlo series in the under 8mm tire size. Interesting.

A friend had a Renault 5 when I was in Cali. A bunch of us lifted the car and put it on the sidewalk. 🙂

Hi, guys! Homework time!
I would like to include some car details in the Monte write-ups. In order to get the information gathered before race-day when we are all busy. I have included a template document to ease you on your way. Please post your car info here on the forum, thanks.

ALERT. Rally track needs repair. A braid has disconnected at the power post directly in front of the driver station, inside lane.

Car and Number: Fiat 131 #1
Class: Over 8mm
RTR Manufacturer: SCX Body
Stock? Yes-ish
Somewhat kitbash. The chassis is 3d printed, sourced from somewhere on the Internet since I bought the body-only on eBay. The motor is still up in the air since I haven’t finished testing options at this time, but it is a long-can, inline setup using Slot.it wheels, axles and bushings at the rear. The front is almost certainly Slot.it wheels and axles, too – but I simply grabbed them from my boxes, checked to see if they fit, and they did. So no telling where they were really sourced from. At the moment, there are Slot.it F30’s on the rear. I’m terrible at recording where I find stuff, but the guide is supplied by an un-remembered slot car manufacturer and it allows for many different lengths. Currently, I’ve got it pretty small, but haven’t actually measured it – if I had to guess (since I don’t have the car with me right now) it is between 4-5 cm. Since my tests on this recent Test N’ Tune evening were very promising, I should likely start creating some solid notes about the thing. I am using some Pendle guide wire. Currently, the car is set up to run the body’s built-in LED lighting setup. We’ll see if I retain that. Since I bought the body by itself, I had to supply body screws – I’m using some aluminum 5mm? screws from Pendle with which I have become enamored since they use a hex driver.

I will be running a Scaleauto De Tomaso Pantera, the 1976 livery. I am running everything as it came out of the box with the exception of Slot.it wheels and F22s in the back and finger nail polish on the front tires. I was a bit skeptical about it at first with it being a bigger car, but I am getting some good times and consistency out of it with practice and tuning. I may get the Avant Slot Alpine A310 at some point or get the Fairlady done before the end of H2 so I could give it a shot. I was intimidated by the rally track at first and now I can’t seem to get enough of it!

I will be dropping the first race, as I can’t find my rally cars. But I plan to run an SCX Alpine and Fiat 124 Spyder. (When I finally find them!). I’ll follow up with pics and specs once they have been located.

I ordered a suspension kit for my Pantera. I could not find anything in the rules prohibiting it and I would like to give it a try. However, as a teacher, I sure know how frustrating it is when people try to find loopholes in the rules. If there is something I overlooked or misinterpreted that would prohibit it, I can try it on a different car just for fun.
