MitleidKeymasterI don’t recall the 512 being a strong contender but yeah that BMW is fast. The Celica was not out when we ran last time but it looks like it could be real fast as well
MitleidKeymasterThat’s because Mosler’s are ugly 🙂
MitleidKeymasterI am assuming we are using the same rule set as last time we ran a Sideways car but the rules specify all slot.it internals and inline was mandatory.
Here are the rules for the last time we ran Group 5
MitleidKeymasterHey so after seeing these I thought there were cool and I could probably design it and these are what came out of that
I toned it back alot and came up with this
I also brought our Logo into Fusion
MitleidKeymasterMitleidKeymasterModifications
1 Wheels, tires, gears, axles, guides, braids, wires, and bearings may be modified or replaced by any manufacturer’s parts that are readily available to all competitors. All-wheel drive, and multiple motors, may be used only if the actual car used them.
2 Weight/ballast can be added to the car but must be contained on the inside of the body.
3 Spring and magnetic suspension packages are allowed.
4 No traction magnets allowed.Track Power
The series will be raced at 12 Volts.
General
If it is not mentioned it is not legal.
These rules were written to create a fair event and not for racers to look for loopholes.Model list
If you want to run something I missed please let me know and I will add it to the list If it meets race rules.MitleidKeymasterWheels and Tires
1 Tires may not project beyond the body when the car is at rest on a level track, as viewed from directly above.
2 Reasonable scale appearing inserts are required in all wheels, unless the wheels have scale appearance and detail.
3 Minimum wheel size is nominal 15mm diameter over center-rib, or a scale 16″ (.500″) diameter over visible part of rim with tire mounted (simulating a nominal 15″ wheel), unless actual car raced with smaller wheels. F1 style wheels are not allowed, unless the actual car raced with 13″-14″ nominal diameter rims.
4 Minimum front tire width is 7mm. Front tires may be profiled so that a narrower area contacts the track, but must otherwise be full width.
5 Maximum rear tire width is 12mm.
6 Front tires may be of any rubber/urethane compound. Silicon tires are expressly forbidden. Tires must appear to be black. Clear finish may be applied to tire tread area.
7 No chemical treatment (such as oil soaking) is permitted.Motors
1 Any commercially available sealed-can slot car motor is allowed. No rewinds or “mod motors” allowed.
2 Magnetic down force from motor may not exceed 30 grams as checked with a Magnet Marshal, exclusive of car weight.
3 Motor can be glued/taped/screwed in place. Pods can be taped or glued to restrict movement.MitleidKeymasterModels Allowed
Any GT car that raced after January 1st, 2010 with a base production of 100 or more.Body and Chassis
1 Body may be injection molded or resin, marketed as 1/32 scale.
2 Chassis and body do not have to be naturally mated RTR set from the same manufacturer. Podded & universal chassis are allowed. Chassis may be braced, reinforced or strengthened. Body screws should be taped to prevent loss.1.3: Chassis may be modified to accept front axle mounts (SCC) or guide modifiers (B-NOVA).
4 Guide may not project beyond the body when aligned for straight, as viewed from directly above.
5 Cars must have sufficient ground clearance to permit free running without contacting track. Cars which drag on the track may be excluded at the track owners’ discretion.
6 Clear window material must be used where the real car has clear material.7 Racing numbers must be visible in three places on body. Racing numbers must match. Bodies may be painted in fantasy or realistic liveries. Non-decorated cars (for example plain white kits) are not allowed.
8 Interior must include, at minimum, dashboard top. Rear shelf is required under rear window, if car has a rear window. Driver figure must be included. If vacuum formed, must be of reasonable detail and proportion. Champion style and paper drivers are not permitted.MitleidKeymasterThat sounds like an entertaining evening never been to a dirt Oval
MitleidKeymasterCorrect me if I am incorrect but once Tech opens you have 15 mins to get it to the Series manager and then the car goes into Parc Ferme.
MitleidKeymasterAlso, I would like to add that it would be in everyone’s self-interest to have their car ready to race by the time 1 pm rolls around. If you are not sure you can get there early enough to make sure your car is good by 1 pm I would suggest not doing anything extensive between your last test session and race day.
MitleidKeymasterI would first like to say yes I have an account on these forums!
Second I love parc ferme I also feel like adding the new rules should be flexible enough that we should say that idea did not work if it is not working.
Marc I don’t understand this line “So, if inspection and Parc-Ferme rules are used to penalize a racer/car in the middle or back of the leaderboard, the question should be asked “why?” Primarily the use of the word penalize. I don’t know how everyone being in the same boat could be seen as a penalty to any driver. I am a clear middle packer these days, I fully welcome the addition of Parc Ferme. I don’t feel like since I am not as fast as someone else that I should have an advantage of taking my car out of parc ferme and working on it in my off heats if anything it is completely unfair to someone who starts in anything but the first heat as they don’t have time to work on the car for an extended amount of time. I have had a car break right before the race and still raced all three heats with the car I got inspected.
I fully plan to call out anyone who does not put their car in parc ferme, it is not persecution against anyone, in particular, I called out 2 people that did not put their car in Parc Ferme this weekend Marc and Marty I assume both were an unintentional slip. As far as changes to the rules I think we are going to bring that up when we are grouped back up in the near future I think is better to have the discussion on things of this nature in person.
Sorry for my rambling typing
MitleidKeymastermy heart wants to say yes but it is too far out of spec if it was like 17.1 I would prob let it slide but as to stick to the rule I will have to say no
MitleidKeymasterSo upon reading the rules and then reviewing the current setups of the members at the club who had cars there. John has CB wheels Randy has Scaleauto wheels and Mark has CB design wheels. All of them are “similar”. I have decided to change the rule to be simply 17×10 mm max. I hope this does not ruffle any feathers.
