Round 3 of the Trans Am series had a full field of 9 cars.  Anyone looking for Marty to back off, was sadly disappointed as, once again the #46 SCA Camaro put almost a nine lap hurt on second place.

The first heat went to Jordan in the Brut Camaro with 63 laps.  Rich, in the #22 Mustang, was second with 58 laps and Max, in the #8 Camaro, was third with 56.

Jordan extended his lead with a win in Heat 2, 69 laps to David’s 59 laps in the #48 Camaro, followed by Max with 55 laps.

Marty dominated Heat 3 with 68 laps, Max was second with 58, and David was third with 52.  Marty turned the fast lap of the race with a 4.213 and showed it was no fluke with a 4.218 and a 4.215 in the next two heats.

Marty increased the lap count to 70 in Heat 4, David completed 57 laps and Mark Challenged (!) with 51 laps in third.

Marty completed his rounds with 69 laps in the Blue lane, Shawn, in the improving #33 Camaro, followed with 65 laps.  Mark, in an increasingly sick-sounding Challenger, finally had to pit for repairs, finally returning to run 42 laps.

Russell and Shawn fought a fierce battle in Heat 6, with Russell, in the Chaparral Camaro just edging Shawn at the finish, both cars with 66 laps.  Mark was third with 44 laps.

Heat 7 saw Shawn and Russell swap finishing positions, Shawn with 66 laps to Russell’s 65.  Steve came in third with 58 laps.

The Chaparral Camaro had it’s best heat in the Blue lane, running 67 laps, with Rich and Steve battling for second, Rich on top with both cars completing 56 laps.

In the final heat, Jordan saved the best for last, turning 65 laps, with Rich at 57 laps and Steve with 54.

At the half-way point, it looks like the Trans Am series is Marty’s to lose.  No one has shown an ability to stay with the #46 Camaro.  The Chaparral Camaro will have to sit out the next round but hopes to return for Race #5.
