Saturday, December 3, was a busy day at the track. Cliff and Don came down from Sun City and Brett brought his newly purchased Alfa for help with set-up.  Cliff and Brent are our newest members.  Welcome to the club!  It was pretty hectic as we were also testing our cars for the races.  I hope we were helpful enough with the newbies.  We also had the usual walk-in visitors.

The first race, Round 5 of Q4 Slot.It started a little late.  Jim had car problems in both races.  The first heat saw Jim with his Mazda in the Yellow lane, with Marty in Green and Roy in Blue.  After a few laps, Jim’s car began to overheat.  He quickly changed cars and continued, albeit down some laps.  Roy ran a strong race, but Marty could not be caught.  Marty finished with 74 laps, with Roy at 72 and Jim at 62.

I had some trouble with the database between races and we ended up burning 4 seconds off the second heat in a false start, so Jim, Marty, and Shawn were each due an extra lap.  At the beginning, Marty pulled out a lead in the Blue lane, followed closely by Shawn in Yellow, and Jim in Green.  The heat was very close between Marty and Shawn, with Shawn finally getting by Marty and opening up a lead, finishing with 73 laps plus the lost lap.  Marty had 72 laps plus one, and Jim had 66 plus one.

The third heat was very close As Jim turned 72 laps in Blue, while Shawn in Green and me in Yellow turning 73 laps.  I was only a couple of car lengths ahead of Shawn at the end.

In the fourth heat Shawn turned on the heat, running 73 laps in Blue, while Roy had 71 in Yellow and I ran 70 in Green.

Marty saved the best for last, completing 75 laps in Yellow, while Roy had 69 in Green, and I came in third with 68.

With one race remaining, the series is tightening up.  Stay tuned for the exciting finale!
