Club members first participated in a straw poll preliminary vote where we reduced the number of choices from 16 to 8. The eight choices were then prioritized using an anonymous poll in which members force-ranked the series in order of their preference. In this ranking the low score prevails. In the first review with he club it was discovered that a couple of members had trouble voting on iPads, but were able to submit votes via PC. This allowed me to account for two of the unranked entries. The remaining unranked entries were eliminated. In the end, we had 12 out of 14 valid responses. The only material change to the selected series that resulted from the response cleanup was the swap of Revo spec class for the Group B open class planned for the rally track. The details of the votes are below and the summary results follow.
The 2023 Race Series run on the main track will be:
- Slot.it Group C (Club Standard: spec class)
- Policar Vintage F1 (open class)
- Ford vs Ferarri (Slot.it GT40 vs Policar Ferrari P4 spec class)
- BRM Mini 1/24 scale Group 2 (spec class)
The 2023 Race Series run on the Rally track will be:
- Monte Carlo: 1972 to 1982 (open class)
- Revo Alfa Romeo (spec class)
The next step will be to establish the races that will be run quarterly vs semi-annual.
Thank you Brian and the club for getting to the classes we will run.
What cars of the 1/24 class will be permitted?
Brian – do we need to make a final vote between Group B and Revoslot Alfa for the rally track?
We also need to decide on the timing for the series as one of these will start in January and that is not a lot of time to prepare for what could be a totally new car/series.
Now that we have the updated 2023 series results its time to figure out when we are going to run the series.
Q1 – Slot.it Group C, Marty will be the race director for this series
Q2 – Open
H1 – The club decided to run the Ford vs Ferrari series, John will be the race director for this series.
Q3 – Open
Q4 – Open, I suggest Policar F1 since this would overlap with the F1 race at COTA. This will also give us time to understand and tune the cars
H2 – Open
I would like to suggest The Monte be in Q3 to allow time for kit bashes and scratchbuilds.
i agree Monte Carlo in Q3 or H2 for time to build and modify cars. We need a good discussion like Datto has on the 2023 Monte Carlo forum page. The narrow tire class was interesting, but I wish I was not so wiped out from the heat at work to drive my 914/6, not just my Mustang. Thus my suggestion of H2 so I get some weather relief.
Should we drop the BRM Mini’s into the Q2 slot? That gives everyone 5 months to acquire a car and “figure it out”.
Q1 – Slot.it Group C, Marty will be the race director for this series
Q2 – BRM Group 2
H1 – Ford vs Ferrari
Q3 – Monte Carlo
Q4 – Policar Vintage F1
H2 – Revo Slot?
Looking at this current arrangement, I think I would swap Ford vs Ferrari for Revo Slot so we are running on rally track throughout the year instead of just at the end of the year.
Q1 – Slot.it Group C, Marty will be the race director for this series
Q2 – BRM Group 2
H1 – Revo Slot
Q3 – Monte Carlo
Q4 – Policar Vintage F1
H2 – Ford vs Ferrari
I have the BRM BMW already and the RevoSlot Alfa so I can run the swapped arrangement. My concern is that some of the cars are in short supply. I also have the Vintage F1 and Ford v Ferrari. I favor the Monte Carlo in Q3 or Q4 if people are making custom/scratch car for that class.
