Formula 22
Round 4
November 23, 2024
After a bit of a layoff, we returned to the track for the fourth round of NSR Formula 22. The good news was that after several days in the dark from a fallen utility pole, the power was back on. The headquarters temperature was pleasant in the 70s. The track although cleaned, did not seem to have its best traction.
Seven drivers came to the line. Kim made her first F22 race with a very cool red Texas Tech livery. Dave now sports a sharp black and orange McLaren. Brian, back from the 24 hours of Tacoma, brought his Buzzin’ Hornets F22. Melvin and John both ran their green Astons. Marc had the blue Red Bull. And Randy raced his white Chaparral number 66.
The action was once again fast and furious. Brian gets the Colapinto award for launching twice off the north end of the track. Marc saved the car from total destruction, once with a line drive catch. Randy’s car went for a ride past the bridge on top of John’s A-M. Brian commented on how sturdy these NSRs have been.
At the end of Heat 7, Dave, in a class by himself, won with 225.89 laps and a F22 record lap of 3.694. Marc had an exceptional second place run of 218.29 laps and a best of 3.798. Melvin was fast from heat one to make his first F22 podium with 215.37 laps and a 3.946 lap. Great run, Mel! John was off the pace in 4th with 210.71 laps and a 3.903 personal best lap. Randy was very close behind in 5th, running 210.3 laps and a 4.009. Brian turned in 201.27 laps for 6th with a 4.171. Kim ran 7th with 159.2 laps and a 4.463.
