GT Series – Round 2 Results

GT Series race #2. This is my favorite series, the freedom of parts choice is something I really like; you can start with a Slot.it car, that is already one of the best performing brands on our track, and improve it, or try to, mixing tires, motors and gears from other manufacturers.

This time around I chose to retire the car from the last round and race my BMW M1; the car has a FLY body running on a Slot.it HRS chassis, it uses the sidewinder setup with BRM Shore 30 tires. I thought I would be competitive, the car was turning 4.1 second laps consistently during practice, but I had to many deslots (I blame it on Woodward Reserve!) and finished 4th.

Brian unveiled his Makers Mark Corvette, a SCX body/Slot.it everything else  hybrid. The car runs on the new Slot.it HRS2 chassis with an anglewinder setup powered by a FLAT6-R motor.
During the race, lack of grip and/or incorrect gear ratio plagued the car,  finishing 5th.  Team Makers R&D manager stated that he was able to gather enough information in order to correct the problems for the next race. Wink

Jim, Russell and Roy raced the same cars from the first round. Russell dominated the race with his consistency, 73 laps in every heat and h a total of 219.30. Jim and Roy fought the greatest battle of the day, neck-to-neck until the last second; when the buzzer rang, Jim pointed to his marker, it  was 2 inches behind Roy’s car — what a finish. Roy is familiar with close finishes, he has many times finished inches behind other competitors, not today. It was a very good race for Roy, finishing second and scoring the fastest lap of the race — congratulations.
