I just about crap my pants..
a controller with a choke, called Renegade, 410 bucks ? – ouch.
nice lil shocker before I hit the sack 😆
clydeParticipantyes.. I was looking at a 25 ohm Parma
but but.. it appears I am looking into a more better type of a controller, like one with a choke, so I dont have to reach down and adjust the voltage for my son, I ll just set it at 12, 13 volts wahtever and then if my kids having issues, I ll just choke it down..
but I m not sure what controller has that.. just all confusing – might as well just get a 25 ohm parma and call it a day.
Professor Motor, yeah looks good thanks for lead
clydeParticipantI have not driven it yet, I need a few items left.
wire it up, and 2 controllers, maybe I ll buy 3 at once, but two – one for me, one for my son. I might get a parama 25ohm one for now to see how it all goes 🙄
I have found 2 more breaks in my taping, so I will solder those up tonight, and go over again with a fine tooth comb, I’ve been testing with a 9v battery just to test the circuits.
I’m hoping, I’m hoping after this weekend, all the ‘bugs’ will be fixed on the taping/track
then work on wiring next weekend I have very little time after work, I cook, take kids to bed, etc then I want to unwind and watch some motorin on TV (HD Network on Directv – channel 181, I love it!)
then its bedtime 😆

Are the main sections 4 feet deep?
yes, 4 feet, 16 feet long on main, and the L portion 4 feet by 5 feet long (so total on that end is 9 feet “ish”)
I havent measured the track runs yet.. really dont care

clydeParticipantSorry its been a while
life *Shrug* but… I’ve painted, coppered my track (now soldering the breaks)
I’ve found a cheap power supply, a Pyramid PS52KX – I got it for cheap. I mean cheap. (and locally)
so I m gonna hope this will work for me, I m hoping next weekend I will be wiring up the track, as I have my kids’ basketball games this week/weekend from that darn snow day, back in Minnesota – we laughed at this 🙂 and Im sadly part of it.
*grin* Thanks for the tips etc:
clydeParticipantI m wondering if this comes in ‘red’ or is it plain and you paint it yourself ? I’ve seen several kits looking like its a ‘snap’ together kit – is there any real bone-fide kits ?
clydeParticipanthmm tempting
I was looking at the bit, thinking 35.00 or so + braid, etc:
then looking at copper tape + taping tool (40.00) etc I might as well go for braid this time around – my track is not small, its pretty large some days I m kicking myself – some days I m happy.
checked braid – guy in San Antonio – has braid at .28 cents a foot at 500 foot or under, and 22 cents a foot at 1K, difference in price is 40.00 I’m wondering if I m doing my math wrong
.28 * 500 ft = 140.00
.22 * 1000 ft = 220.00 (an extra 500 feet for only 80 bucks and you cant get 500 for that price)decisions, decisions 🙂
Thanks for the offer, I ll stop by sometimes during winter break with my son again and decide on braid/copper
clydeParticipantThanks for the tip on where to pick up the 1/8 bit
its a 1/4 shank, wont fit my PorterCable 6902 (1/2 inch hank) need to order a new collet 🙁 but nonetheless the routing is coming SOON.
clydeParticipantYup, and a full page AD in Auto Week that I get every 2 weeks.
Also saw the White Ring (I forgot was it F1 WHite Ring or some other name) in Automobile magazine a month or two ago. (I ll have to find it again)
Looks nice, wonder how much it would set me back instead of doing it myself…
