OK gang,
Here’s what we decided on tonight:
TransAm 65-74: Scalextric or Pioneer, open rear tires, and non-magnet
Modern F1 1995+: Scalextric, open rear tires, and non-magnet
1/24 BRM: BRM Challenge Rules
GT: everything openSo we need to decide on when to actually start and run these. They will not be run like the Slot.it Challenge except maybe the 1/24 BRM, but they will be ad-hoc races on the Saturdays we don’t have Challenge races.
Open for discussion…….

Didn’t we decide that the TransAm race would be first?

I would like to see us go with the 1969-1971 Trans-Am series first. As a group lets confirm the rules as we have laid them out.
-Scalextric or Pioneer Cars only.
-No magnets.
-Weight may be added inside the car. Any added weight should not be visable.
-Any rear tire may be used.
-All other parts must remain on or in the car and must be stock.Questions
1. Are you allowed to sand the stock front tires?
2. Would we hold these races on off weekends or after the Slot It Challenge races?
3. Would we produce a race flyer for this event to get more participation from more of Kings customers?
4. Would race fee’s be the same as they are for the Slot It Challenge?
5. Would the heat structure be the same as the Slot It Challenge?
6. What date would we start the races?
7. Would we run the Trans-Am races along with one of the other races that have been suggested – BRM, modern F1, GT unlimited?Once we answer these questions we should get it posted on the events calendar.

I would really like to take it easy in those classes, the more rules the lesser I would like to participate.
BTW, I saw some Carrera trans-ams, should you allow those?

Hi guys,
I would agree that the fewer rules, the better.
Carrera and SCX both have Trans Am cars but I don’t think they would be competitive.
T/A first would be fine. Also,I had an idea for another type of race; we take turns driving the same car. This could be an informal, run anytime, spur-of-the-moment deal.
Say, one person offers one of his cars to run. Everyone gets two minutes to practice and set their controllers, then does a two minute run for fastest lap and most laps run. This could be done in driver’s choice of lane or a lane could be specified that everyone would run. We could each make runs in all three lanes but it would be longer, especially for the guys not running. If we did that I would recommend each person gets one minute of warmup in each of the other two lanes, then their two-minute run. This would speed things up and keep the pressure on.
We could draw straws for running order, except that the person whose car it was would always run last.
This race would be like Monday Night Football was originally, where all the other teams would be watching, so the two teams were playing in front of their peers.
As I said, this would be informal and could be run any time a group of us were together, Thursday,Sunday, etc. There would be no entry fee.
What do you think? -

This sounds like an internal proxy race. Everyone could prepare one car and everyone drives it on every lane to determine what car is the best. Is this along the lines of what everyone is thinking?

I would like for all of us to sit down and come up with a game plan for what the next race we will run and when we can put it on the calendar. I want to make sure the club is offering different things to different people so its not a one series club.
I was also thinking about two possible new races – Slot It Group C unlimited with any and all Slot It parts allowed. The other was any Slot It car unlimited. These two race set ups would be similar and share parts but the base cars would be different. This way Kings can continue to stock parts from one manufacture.
Thoughts?

Sounds good guys, but I would like to throw in one more possibility – the Racer Daytona Prototypes. These cars primarily use Slot.it parts already and would not require much modification at all. They do cost a little more, but you do not need to spend a small fortune upgrading them. There are quite a few liveries available plus more are on the way. Pattos also makes a large number of decal sets,

Nope. Chargers didn’t run in a TransAm series. Only the Challenger did.

From Wikipedia:
“The series was best known for competition among American V8 sedans such as the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, Mercury Cougar, AMC Javelin, Pontiac Firebird, & Dodge Challenger in the 1960s and early 1970s. Marques such as Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Datsun, Mini-Cooper, Saab, and Volkswagen competed in the series Under 2.0 Liter category.”
