Here is something for anyone who likes Ferrari, Tyrrell, Formula One, Jody Scheckter, organic farms, good beer or any combination of those.  I have read stories in Motorsport Magazine about Jody Scheckter’s love for things organic for farming and nature in general.  Out of this passion grew England’s largest organic farm – Laverstoke Park Farms along with numerous organic products produced at the farm or from partner farms.  He has sort of become England’s version of Whole Foods.

In reading the stories about his products I began lusting over one of his organic craft beers or a glass of his organic wines.  Having searched the internet it became apparent that there were no importers and no way I could try them out unless I was willing to make the trip to jolly olde England.  Not really seeing that in my future I put that dream on the shelf for a later date along with so many other little dreams I have.

This Sunday my Laverstoke Farms dream came true!  While Marya and I were at the new Whole Foods in BeeCavesI was wondering the beer isle and came across a large display featuring their new import – Laverstoke Park Farms Organic Real Lager.  I, for a moment, was in heaven.  One of my little dreams had finally come true.  I totally ignored the $9.99 price for the four pack and headed to the register with a huge smile.

I almost opened one in the car but thought better of it and waited until I got home.  In reviewing the beer the only thing I can say is WOW.  I can’t believe its imported.  It was one of the freshest Lager’s I have had from a bottle.  The flavor was great and it was very hoppy, almost like a lager trying to be an IPA.  Great stuff.

If you want to support one of the coolest retired F1 world champions around I suggest you head down to Whole Foods and pick up a four pack of Jody’s Laverstoke Park Farm’s organic lager.

PS – If you are wondering why it only comes in a four pack I have the story.  Apparently he was going to run it with six but was told by the FIA that only four’s are allowed these days.  See if you can figure that one out.  Free beer to the one that does!

For those that watched or know of Jody Sheckter, one of the most famous cars he drove was the Tyrell P34 – the six wheeled Tyrell.  After the P34 was retired in 1978 the governing body, the FIA, ruled out anything other than cars with four wheels.  Get it – he was going to do a six pack but because of the rules change decided to do a four instead.
