Chassis modifications to fit warped body

The right side of my Mazda is warped inward by a couple of mm where the body meets the chassis in front of the left rear tire.  I’m going to try some gentle heat on the body to straighten it, but if that doesn’t work am I allowed to file down the chassis at that point to get the clearance necessary to achieve body float?

Spread the body with a toothpick, applied heat with a blow dryer, let cool, and all seems well.
