      All,

I have spent some time looking deeper into the differences between the older Alfa, the newer Alfa and the Opel and Mercedes.  I have a list of the cars, along with all the information about them.  Please use this information when selecting a car to run in the series.

I am still not opposed to having all A group racers run the Alfa and the B group racers the Opel.  We will have to see how they compare before we make a final decision.

Is the Mercedes just plain noncompetitive according to the dimensions and  and background information.  You are saving me from going down a rabbit hole if that is true.  My potential MB purchase is sentimental based on my Dad’s 3 MB’s, but I am trying to be more competitive from the purchase onward.

      Randy,

I have no idea if the Mercedes is competitive.  Part of every series, especially new ones, is the discovery of what does and does not work easily.  The best way to determine if the Mercedes is competitive is to buy one and set it up.  Setting up a car is 98% of the performance.  Some cars are competitive right out of the box while others require some work to get to the same level.  Cars that some have said were uncompetitive others have been able to get them to work.  This is the only new series and I am looking forward to running it just because I find it fun and enjoyable to set up a new car and working to get the most out of it.  Good luck with your Mercedes.  Can’t wait to see it running on the track.

Marty, do you have the raw XLS file? The image you posted obviously does not include the Merc. Are there other rows and columns also not visible? Just curious … el Araña

      Mark,

I posted the information again with the Mercedes info.  When I used the Snipping tool I accidentally left off the Mercedes models.

I’m going to wait out the Mercedes silver availability and if it is not available I ‘ll go Opel.

Well I decided not to wait for a MB listed as Q3 availability and di not feel moved by the opel so I just ordered the Bosch Alfa.

The Bosch Alfa is the 1996 version of the Alfa.  I can’t wait to see it run.

      SLOT IT 2020 Motors
MX16 = white endbell replacement for the orange (21.5k) and dark-orange (23k) motors
      2017 used the same model/part#.
New models have a tatoo or engraving indicating 23k or 21k (MX15) speed.
(NOTE NSR motors have included a fairly robust tatoo under the foil for years. resistant to oils and Vodoo juice.)
Slot.IT seems to have stopped offering a ‘two ended’ motor.

Common specs: 23k RPM, 170g torque @12v, about 5g more torque than the older light-orange 21.5 models.
MX16 = Endbell drive, so for all small-can Inline applications with modern pods.
%In the catalog it appears as a Double-ended motor but on retailer’s sites it appears to only have a long shaft on the endbell side%
MX16-M = Can drive, for many sidewinder applications.  Bell drive pods are still available.

      Black Endbell: MX15
This is the OEM motor in the DTM cars.  21k RPM, 150g torque @12v
Double-ended (long shaft on both can and end-bell)
Same specs and model# as 2017 catalog.

      MX17 = 29k 150g tq ~ replaces the old Red end-bell (now white).

25k Yellow end-bell seems to only be available as NOS from retailers.  Never seemed as reliable as the NSR 25k anyhow.

** Long-can/Boxer motors have not changed.

At 4-years old in Pensacola I repaired my steering linkage on my Ford Pedal-car. Dad later converted this car to a Blue Angel with ailerons and elevators with a working "stick/yoke"; the rudder was controlled by the steering wheel. I like all motorsports - I grew up going to a NASCAR Feeder track with Sportsman and Modified classes, and was lucky to attend drag races in 1970 at Orange County Raceway. My first solder-iron was a Christmas gift at 9yo; I modified T-Jets to be AFX spec before AFX Cars were in local stores. I rebuilt a few tractor & car (SIMCA) engines plus transmissions by 15yo (I still have my ring-compressor and valve spring tool) I am a former mountain and road bike geek & perennial sound engineer.
