What has been discussed so far:
- Post-war Mille Miglia, from 1947 to 1957.
- Podded chassis are not allowed.
- All cars to use the same motor: 14.5K, available from M/T Racing Resins for U$ 7.00. Any motor rated 18K RPM or lower at 12 Volts is allowed. Motor type does not matter; slim-can, S-can and long can are all allowed. You can use the Slot Car News Motor List to check motor RPM, here: https://slotcarnews.blogspot.com/2007/02/slot-car-news-motor-list.html, or use the PDF file attached to this post.
- RTR or scratch-built cars are allowed. Body must be manufactured as 1/32 scale, and may be injection molded or resin cast. No vacuumed formed or blow molded bodies allowed.
- Plastic or resin chassis only – commercial or scratch-built. Chassis may be cut or lengthened to fit aftermarket body.
- Weight may be placed above below chassis. Any weight added below the chassis need to clear the track at all times.
- Minimum interior requirements are:
- Helmeted 3D driver figure, with representation of at least head, shoulders, and arms.
- Driver shall be positioned somewhere near where he would be in real life (ie-in proper seating area and able to “see” out the windshield).
- Interior, with representation of at least dashboard top and rear shelf, as appropriate to actual car (Lightweight materials may be used).
- Interior must be so that one cannot see drivetrain (motor, gears, axle, driveshaft-etc) when looking in through windows.
- Must have full windshield and full rear window. Must also have any rear passenger windows in place. Windows may be vacuum formed.Only the windows in the doors, both sides, may be removed
- Wheels maximum diameter is 15mm, maximum width is 9mm.
- Suggestion: BRM classic, shore 25 tires work very well on our track.
- BRM part# S-115: 1/32 front tires for 15mm wheels (shore 25) 20×7
- BRM part# S-116: 1/32 front tires for 15mm wheels (shore 25) 22×7 mm
- Suggestion: BRM classic, shore 25 tires work very well on our track.

I was planning on entering a Scaley Mercedes 300SL in the Mille Miglia. It has a front mounted motor with a splined shaft and spring that connects to a driveshaft with the pinion gear. It would create a hardship for me if I had to run a different motor and figure some way to reconnect the drive shaft. I don’t think I could remove the spring off the Scaley motor without wrecking or twisting the spring out of round. I even considered installing a u-joint, but the interior sits over the drive shaft and there is minimal clearance for anything other than the spring.
I would like to see Scaley stock motors (18K) allowed in this class in addition to the 14.5K “spec” motor.
As a footnote, I have pulled the magnet, added bronze bushings, Slot.It axles and gears, BRM Classic wheels and tires, and a wood guide, and I’m still 2 tenths slower than a box stock Scaley Mercedes with absolutely no mods. Makes you wonder if it’s worth the time and cost to field a slower than stock car to be slowed even more with a manditory 14.5K motor.
Let me know soon if I have to cut the chassis out of this car and try to fit something else.

Jim,
If we allowed the Scaley motor than everyone would run the Scaley motor and no one would use the 14.5k. There’ too much of a performance difference between the 2 motors. This is a 3.5k RPM difference in the motors which is a huge percentage.
I think you just discovered why most don’t modify Scaley cars.

Guys,
Please refer to the first post for the changes.
Rules that were removed are in red, rule changes or additions are in blue.

So we’re just talking rated RPM right and not actual? All motors seem to be rated lower than actual speed.

Shawn,
I would say rated so that anyone could get a Scaley, Carrera or Ninco and get it on the track without the need to chance the motor. I’m betting on the wheelbase, track and tire width limitations of those cars to be the equalizer; if that’s not the case we could review the rules, add gear limitations or something of that sort (I really don’t think that we will need something like that).
One thing to remember is that you can use any brand of gears/pinions other than Slot.it, avoiding the problem with their variable pitch gears (10, 11 tooth inline pinions), and getting more RPMs at the wheel without having the car sounding like a Jumbo jet. Scaleuato and BBR (MB Slot) manufacture fixed pitch gear with a separate stop collars — good stuff.
