This past Saturday, I finally received the MiniZette chassis I order 30+ days ago from Jens Scale Racing in Germany. The chassis is made of stainless steel and aluminum parts; in all, there were around 70 pieces, including screws and washers.

Here is the finished product (so far):

Chassis, wheels and inserts came from Germany, the remaining parts were purchased in the U.S.. The 15″, 1/28 scale wheels, are very close in size to the, NSR made, Fly truck wheels; the NSR front/rear truck tires were a perfect fit, I used supergrips for the rear, and no-grips for the front.

The Porsche 962C body came with tinted windows but vacuum-formed clear windows are available.

The guide that came with the chassis has a very long blade. The stop collars are from Scaleauto, it was simpler than using spacers.

Jens BBS inserts fit the wheels perfectly, I just don’t like their look – will be changed soon.

The motor is a Proslot MK1, 26K RPM, and are readily available in the U.S.. It didn’t make any sense to use consumables (motor, tires and gears) that are only available overseas.

The gears are Plafit; other options would be Scaleauto, Avant Slot and JP gears – the same goes for ball bearings.

      The interior was scratch-built …

… but I had a 1/24 BRM Porsche interior for a guide, made things a lot simpler.

The car should see some track time soon, I think it should handle fine but you never know. I will update this post with more info ASAP.

Looking foward in seeing that slot in person.

      Is it cost prohibitive?

Cost shouldn’t be too bad after I figure out what works. It gets expensive when you buy one of each size gear, pinion, tire, inserts, etc.
