The next round in the year long Slot It Challenge Series is the Modern GT.  This series starts this coming Saturday the 6th of October.

This Saturday’s race will also be the first race starting at 2pm – our fall/winter hours.  Please adjust your schedule accordingly.  This later time should give everyone time to complete their “to do” lists and get to the track for a prompt start time of 2pm.

This round of the Slot It Series will also have for the first time two classes of racers on the track at the same time.  With the increased number of new racers we have decided to split the point system into an “A” and “B” field.  All racers will race together but points will be awarded in the position you finished.

Eligible Slot It cars are the Nissan 390 GT1, the McLaren F1 GTR, the Ferrari F40 and the Porsche GT1 EVO 98.  All cars must run with the in-line pod and orange end bell motor.

What to look forward to in this round of the series –

  • Cooler ambient and track temperatures.

  • Fast lap times and maybe some additional 77 lap heats.  Can anyone hit the 78 lap heat record?

  • More racers.  We had 10 racers compete in the last round of the Group C series and I think we will see even more racers in this round of the series.  Rumor has it we might even see long time club member Robin come out and run a few rounds with us.  That alone is worth the price of entry!

  • Heavier Octoberfest beers.  No more need to drink the light beers now that its so much colder in the track room with temps in the low 80’s.

  • Who will be racing what?  Will we see any of the 2011 El Piloto McLaren’s coming out to compete in this round?  What car will be the favorite?

  • Will Brian have time to get his car as well as his house painted?  If so, it will be interesting to see what his choice of color and livery.

  • Will the new racers give the veteran racers a run for the points?

We will have to wait for Saturday to get some answers.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
