The Q1 2012 Slot.It Challenge for 60’s Protypes was finalized today with the running of Round #6, the final round. When the dust had settled, Roy managed to hang on to first place overall with a 5th place finish. The track was difficult to figure out as it was slippery when compared to previous rounds run. Congratulations to Roy for putting up some outstanding lap times and lap counts during the series.
Back to Round #6. Team Chap saved their best effort for the last round by taking 1st place with 221.84 laps. Way to go Russell. It wasn’t a cakewalk either as Kevin finished 2nd with 221.83 laps plus best lap of the day at 3.841 seconds. It sounds like Russell won 1st place by less than a car length. Ary managed a 3rd place finish with 220.45 laps run with a fastest lap of 3.904.
The middle of the pack belonged to Marty, Roy, and Brian. Fighting for last place were Shawn and Jim. Yours Truely is glad to see this series conclude as I could never get the speed or handling out of my GT40. When you are not competitive, it’s hard to get up for racing, knowing your competition will be lapping you 2 to 4 times a heat.
Here are the results of Round 6 and the Final Standings:
