      Slot It Challenge Update 12-9-10

With only three Saturday’s and four Thursday’s before the Slot It Challenge begins everyone is busy getting ready. There are those that are still deciding what car to run while others have made their selection and are working in getting their selection tuned to perfection.

Thursday was a great night to run with some of the clubs regulars in attendance. There were some super fast laps mixed with some super crashes. There was lots of tuning and tweaking and everyone was trying to find the perfect set up.

      Here is Thursday nights update.

Ary was there running his new Fly trucks. They looked great. So different and yet so fun. He was also running his BBR Ferrari. Both the trucks and the BBR had lots of work done to them and they were both very fast. Ary is tuning the truck to run in a truck proxy next March. If things work out we will be hosting one of the races! Ary did run his Slot It Challenge Lancia for some super fast laps. Ary has worked had to get the Lancia to make as many strange noises as possible so it not only looks the part but sounds like a real Lancia.

Russell brought out his Porsche 956 Rothmans car and a beautiful old Chaparral Indy car team jacket. He was setting some blazing times. Not surprising until you discover he has done nothing to the car other than installing P6’s on the rear wheels! By the end of the night Russell had installed a routed guide and was setting super fast lap times. Maybe it was the car, maybe it was the driver or maybe it was the jacket.

Roy was running his Fortuna Porsche 962 and was running some of the fastest laps he has so far since joining the club.

Brian was still trying to select the perfect car to run, the Sauber Mercedes or the Porsche 956KH. The Sauber was running really well until the little driver inside the car removed the window for better ventilation and the window lodged between the front wheels and the chassis giving the car fantastic brakes. Both cars were fast but the Sauber looked to have the edge.

Jim came to watch and will be at the track on Saturday with his Slot It cars. Models not yet announced.

Marty was running a selection of cars including a new Sloting Plus Reynard. Very fast but not very stable. He was running both of his Jaguars along with a new Sauber Mercedes. Looks like he will be sticking with his Jaguars for the Challenge.

Everyone had some fun and some refreshments. Everyone is welcome to come out and join in the fun.

      Marty,

It is OK for you to say that you turned the fastest lap with a challenge car: 4.1?? — great job !!!
Do we need a new section: “Marty’s updates” ???

I have marinated the driver in Maker’s Mark, carefully baked him according to manufacturer’s instructions, and properly sealed the window to prevent any more antics.

      😆
