My concern with making it an open series is limited funds and not limited time. I voted yes because I already have one and thought they would be fun to race.

Been getting some good times. I guess I can live with the noise, whatever it may be. Very slight margin of error between cutting deep into the turns with some traction losing drift and keeping the tires propelling the little thing forward. It’s a blast!
My white kit 701 is a blast to drive on the track but makes a high pitched whining sound. As cool as it is to kind of have it sound like an F1 car, I am wondering if there is something that needs to be adjusted with the gear mesh. I have honestly been hesitant to open the thing back up because of how tricky it is to attach the body to the chassis. Any tips?
That sounds like a lot of fun @Radial TA. Thanks to you guys, I am learning some racing history from the slot car perspective.
@Datto, I have the Mercedes DTM that I am happy to throw in for that. And if you guys want to help tune it to get it running better…. that is fine by me.I am building a couple of vans from an old Revell find on ebay. They seem like good candidates for the slot.it hrs chassis. I am not sure what Russel is running on his van and if he is willing to let us race it, but maybe there is a potential for a fun and different race with those.
A tire truing question for these “bigguns”: is it a general rule of thumb to have the front of the car such that tires should only touch when cornering or do we want those front tires making contact with the track at all times with these bigger cars? Without the adjustable axle height, I decided to true my front tires a little more today and have that front riding like a Group C car. But now I am feeling like maybe I should have followed Russel’s lead with the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” philosophy. He said he didn’t anything to his car since last race and still smoked all of us with a 6 lap lead between him and 2nd.
I got my white kit in today but just discovered Slot Car Corner sent me the wrong tires. They have the correct tires listed on the invoice, but those are not the ones they sent. Been scrambling to get this white kit built and then to discover that… what a bummer.
I ordered a suspension kit for my Pantera. I could not find anything in the rules prohibiting it and I would like to give it a try. However, as a teacher, I sure know how frustrating it is when people try to find loopholes in the rules. If there is something I overlooked or misinterpreted that would prohibit it, I can try it on a different car just for fun.
Those fiddly bits are… fiddly! I’ve had the exhaust fall off already and I think there are still some parts from my white kit that I need to get on there. I’m glad I have a few months to figure all that out. I will have to use the jig to make sure I am not running wider than I’m supposed to making for better running, but I am very impressed with these little cars. Maybe my driving skills are improving, but I am starting to get some better times with my March 701 with lower voltage than I was getting with my group C at higher voltage.
I ordered the Kadett white kit from 132slotcar with plenty of time for it to ship early last week, but it still hasn’t shipped and I have received no responses to my inquiries. I’d heard this was an issue with them sometimes, but I had already done a couple orders with them and they were shipped immediately with no issues. Anyway, fingers crossed that a miracle happens! I am probably going to do another hydro-dip on this one. Stock pic for reference.

I will be running a Scaleauto De Tomaso Pantera, the 1976 livery. I am running everything as it came out of the box with the exception of Slot.it wheels and F22s in the back and finger nail polish on the front tires. I was a bit skeptical about it at first with it being a bigger car, but I am getting some good times and consistency out of it with practice and tuning. I may get the Avant Slot Alpine A310 at some point or get the Fairlady done before the end of H2 so I could give it a shot. I was intimidated by the rally track at first and now I can’t seem to get enough of it!

Bellator, that wrap looks great! I decided to try hydro-dipping with mine, given the looming deadline of the race. Have you been able to source any instructions for the white kits? I have the Escort and am trying to figure it out with photos of the liveries they make, but instructions sure would speed things along. I am looking forward to showing off my hydro-dip. It’s pretty far out. 🙂
You guys know I have to ask – White kits allowed? One of my friends is a graphic designer and wants to do a wrap on one of my cars. I think the shapes of these with less curves and larger flat surfaces lend themselves well to that.
I am building a March 701 from a white kit. I don’t know how true it will look to the period with the paint job, but all the parts should be right. And this one is mostly orange… not green. 🙂
