Wow! And cute as a button!
I think she is saying “Bimmer” for BMW.

(Leroy Grumman)If we do it as a the El Piloto series we just spec it out… Even if we don’t do it as El Piloto the availability of parts will keep it fairly close to a spec series. I would at least spec the chassis and motor. The wheels and tires might wind up being a defacto spec, but folks can experiment.
The GT class has the most variation in bodies for a standard series, we could stay traditional for an El Piloto series with a Group C pack, or we could go with Porsche GT3 cars, or even something like a Lamborghini Murcielago, or Ferrari 599. Kinda mix things up a bit. 😉
I think that even if the cost to build one is break-even with the BRM’s we’ll realize savings in parts as the gears should last beyond one race.

(Leroy Grumman)I want to run a larger scale as part of our 2014 series, but I would rather run a 1:27/28 scale using the Kyosho Mini-Z bodies on the PN Slot Group Mini-Z chassis.
The price of entry is similar, probably less. Less than $120 for a chassis and body. Wheels and tires for another $40 to 50?
Food for thought.

(Leroy Grumman)What is the ruling on the Scalextric Pro Performance kits?
Available in Audi R8 and Aston Martin DB9 variants.
Personally, I think they can be allowed, as they seem to be nothing more than a white-kit with a parts bin. Might want to spec the wheels so they are scale…

(Leroy Grumman)Unless you are
a) up for a huge challenge with little chance for reward or
b) are just a glutton for punishmentskip the SCX brand cars. I have tried to prep two of these (A Volvo and a BMW) for touring car proxies and found that the level of changes required to the body and chassis are simply too great. At a minimum you are looking at replacing the entire guide post assembly, modifying the motor pod to fit a more traditional motor, and probably modifying the interior to clear a new motor (which starts to bump up against the rules).
As Ary pointed out most of their cars are very narrow, although some would argue they are actually closer to scale than other brands. The one exception is their DTM series of cars, which are also wider in 1:1 scale. (Think EU version of NASCAR with left and right turns.)

(Leroy Grumman)The scale does seem a bit off. I wonder if the pics of the Ferrari have been squeezed, though, as the one shot of the McLaren looks OK.

(Leroy Grumman)Beautiful car and cool that it can be driven the street, but parking in the handicapped spot at the convenience store? Bad form.
