BellatorKeymaster
Oh man… M6 FTW…
BellatorKeymasterTherein lies a fundamental truth. 🙂
BellatorKeymasterThat’s awesome! And quite a bit better than Fox Sports 1’s coverage of Le Mans this year!
BellatorKeymasterHmmm… not sure what to say then… I’ve been a Mac user for almost 15 years and I have never used Grab directly. (The tiff-only thing put me off) However, the Grab menu is incorporated into Preview, which I use frequently, and for almost all of the screen shots I upload to the site. (Preview gives me the option to do some light editing and convert into several formats.)
So, aside from starting in TIFF format, I use the same utility function (if not the app) and don’t have this issue. I can only guess that there is some lossy compression happening at some point in your workflow.

BellatorKeymasterHi Mark,
What snipping tool are you using? When I use the built-in screen grabbing tools on my mac (i.e. shift-cmd-4 to capture a rectangular selection) it outputs a png file. If you are using a third-party tool that only exports TIFF, frankly, I would get another tool.If you are using the Preview application to convert (the command is actually Export), then make sure you are setting the quality correctly. You can safely set the jpg quality to 90+ percent. The upload feature on the web site does some optimization to the size and compression of the images to make sure they don’t adversely impact the performance of the site.

BellatorKeymasterI love the closing line: “A British invention racing to success”.
Great find!
BellatorKeymasterMark, it really is more than likely is compound and if not temperature, then track conditions. (Car balance may play a role as well) We have seen this sort of behavior from the tires and the cars before. And it always happens when the season changes. It all comes down to choosing the right compound and getting your setup (and driving style) right for that setup.
BellatorKeymasterThis sounds more like track temperature vs tire compound to me… (With maybe a bit of gearing selection and weight balance thrown in for good measure)
BellatorKeymasterHa!
But Monday nights will never be the same… 🙁
BellatorKeymasterAmazing… that is a work of art.
BellatorKeymasterGreat write up Marty. I have also been using a workbook to calculate wheel speed and distance over time. It contained one tab much like the Charts tab in the spreadsheet I have attached next to yours. It was a bit more plain than what I have here and only used motor rpm and wheel diameter as inputs for the charts below the gear ratio matrix. But it was serviceable.
Marty, seeing your worksheet inspired me to add the additional calculations for roll out and the actual readings fields on Charts tab. And then I got carried away with “having fun with spreadsheets” and added the advanced formatting to the charts to make them more user friendly and created the Car Log tab based on your workbook.
Just for fun I added fps and mph, because everyone seems to wonder about it.
Hope folks find it and yours useful.
BellatorKeymasterPrice of the “bleeding edge”?
Your experience with repairs was one of the things that put me off of buying a CPO Audi Q3 S-Line when I was shopping last fall.

BellatorKeymasterWe ran the 2012 el Piloto at 12 volts on at least one occasion, and maybe our first Trans Am? (I think we ran a series where we had spec’d stock motors that didn’t run well at 11 vdc… or maybe we just considered it.)
BellatorKeymasterLooks like it designed for the proto slot metal chassis.
BellatorKeymasterYep… definitely worth it.
