I have! That is one awesome track. Besides the incredible scenery work, he also uses an interesting alternative to mainstream digital to enable lane changing on the track.

(Leroy Grumman)Hi Warren,
I think I’m the only guy running digital in the group right now, but I don’t run Carrera (I run SCX Digital), so having no experience with that brand I can’t give you any advice on the conversion. Have you tried the Slot Car Illustrated forum or Slot Forum? There will be a fairly large population of Carrera Digital users over there that could shed some light on your challenge.Brian

(Leroy Grumman)Indeed!
So what’s left on the track then?
1) Ground cover (several stages/applications?)
2) Retaining wall cap. (quick and easy…)
3) Track signage.

I saw the pegboards installed and also that they were missing in the back of the track. Do we need to buy more or you left it like that so we can go under the track?
I can go to Kings during the week and help paint the surface, just let me know.We also need to have the flyers finished, the t-shirts ordered and to contact the media/newspapers about the opening ASAP.
Here is what I remember that needs to be done; please add whatever is missing.
1- Need to trim the terrain around turn T5, T6, T7, T8.
2- Paint terrain surface.
3- Apply grass.
4- Finish pond.
5 – Additional landscaping (Marty and Brian need to itemize it).
6- Fabricate door and back for power supply cabinet.
7 – Paint the pegboard and track sides.
8- Cover the electric socket and cover the extension cords going to the track
9A – Confirm with Kings the discount rates discussed on Aug 21 — needed to finish the flyer
9- Finish flyer and distribute it
10- Order T-shirts
11- Create Banner with 2010 design for back wall
12 – Artwork/posters for back wall
13- Track rules need to be created and printed on a poster for the back wall
14- Contact media about the opening
15- See that the walls are installed
16- See that the back room is cleaned
17- See that the store has merchandise
18- TV needs to be fastened
19- Store clerks need to be trained
20- Track computer needs to be setup for remote access
21 – Speakers need to be installed (Y splitter for earphones needed)
22- Track turn names
23- Website layout + content
24- Bank account
25- Open a club with the city/state?Dang Ary… I didn’t have you pegged as a “list guy”! 😉
I have pics still in the camera. Will upload tonite. (Would have done yesterday, but the “honey-do” list was quite long… plus the Turkish Hacker nonsense on my SCDimensions site…. plus having to post a bunch of product spec sheet corrections to the SCXWW site… plus…) 😯
On a positive note: It looks like I’m available until ~2:00 next week, so I can get there at opening time to help finalize some of these things on the track.

(Leroy Grumman)How about….
T5 = Margarita. Hit it too hard and your off the track in Sunset Bend.
And… keeping with the “theme”…
T8 – Shiner Sweep. Not as treacherous as Margarita, but still enjoyable.
And yes… I might have been under the influence when I wrote this… 😆

(Leroy Grumman)I was surfing track maps and noticed that our combined T6 and T7 are very representative of Sunset Bend at Sebring.(They are even on the west end of the track!) So… I’ll propose:
T6/T7: Sunset Bend
Also… the first slot car mfg is reported to be Lionel, therefore it might be fitting if:
T1: Lionel Lane
Edit: OK… that last one is wildly lame… forget I said that… move along… nothing to see here… 😳

(Leroy Grumman)I’ve watched this guy’s build sequences… his work is inspirational.

(Leroy Grumman)September 7, 2010 at 8:08 AM in reply to: Which brand should we buy for a future 1/24 race class? #860I voted Carrera to start, but mostly because they have a wider variety of cars at this scale, allowing us to spec more classes.
If we are considering a 1/24 Group C Porsche series then I’m in with BRM.

(Leroy Grumman)Here is the layout with the turns numbered. We can continue the thread with “candidate” names for each turn.
BTW: I think it makes sense to name the esses one thing so they are combined into T3. However; if there are other suggestions regarding that particular section, we can go with T3a and T3b in the list of names.

(Leroy Grumman)I missed this earlier… I think this would be a good follow up to the Slot.it series. Wouldn’t we want to break it up by class though?
