I have talked to my boss at the golf course about leaving by 1:45 on race days to get to HQ by 2:00. I should be at HQ this week by 2:00. I have been oiling my cars Friday evening to be ready except for the usual tire cleaning before a race. See you this week.
I was surprised to see the accumulation of big junk behind E1 building last week when I was working on the 8 ball cobra.
My Racer resin 275 GTO held up well on the big track but was slow on the long straights. I have avoided resin cars since then. Do you think small resin rally cars could be competitive due to the short straights? There are more new desirable cars, even available with 3d chassis options and Policar chassis options, beyond open wheel cars. I also have a Fly Porsche 911 with a 3d chassis awaiting assembly in the box that was going to have wide aluminum wheels and wide NSR or Slot.it tires and BFGoodrich Canada decals.
A few weeks ago when we had the two races, there was discussion back by the rally track of racing a rally class of small cars like original Fiat 500’s, Mini Coopers, and maybe some Penelope Pitlane or other obscure kits. Since we do have some prior modern rally sedans maybe we could run a division of vintage and modern at the same time. Separate discussion has also drifted about having two (2) rally Series each year.
HOORAY! I say we buy up enough of one width, the correct for Porsche etc., and inserts to cover the 10 or so cars we would run. This means I would want to run RevoSlots in 2022, no ifs, ands or buts.
Targa Florio 4 will be run counter clockwise with the overhead lights on. Since most of our cars do not have clear lenses, we will not run a dark night race this series.
Team 8 Ball Cobra roadster hardtop will show up for race two. Scrapped the attempt begun three begun years ago to alter the MRRC front axle setup for a new 3D chassis.

The name of the engineer is Terry Pelton, who was also president of his fraternity at Ohio University in 1966-67, and sold my Dad his wooden Lyman runabout.
I agree with your post. One early (late 60’s) BFGoodrich racing story is that the winning Porsche had a flat tire and the driver pulled out the BFG collapsible spare, changed the flat and proceeded to win. The young engineer assigned to the design for the racing wheel in Akron got a letter of thanks from one of the Porsche family members that went into his personnel file. Should we require everyone to change a flat tire (take of a wheel and put it back on).
Once I would like to have the Targa car also run 40 laps on the big track, without changing anything, and crown a one time champion for overall performance. a few weeks ago Steve and I tried running the big track with the power clockwise and it was a challenge, especially with the small rally guide down hill through the esses, very rally like.
Ciao

I got the Fly 250LM sidewinder running. It has the Slot Car Corner front axle blocks installed which required removing front chassis plastic and installing the grill surround without the screws. It was similar to the description in Ary’s McLaren how-to on our site. It is also running a slot.it orange bell with metal gears. That spacing of the gears was a challenge and almost pushed me to use the Fly short can black bell motor with the plastic gears. The rear axle is rolling in SCC bronze bearings. The guide is a slot.it long wood track model. The Fly model has beautiful interior detail which is what lead me to use the fly chassis sidewinder setup. The 3D printed chassis requires inline motor orientation that causes fabrication of a new flat interior. I did not want to do that if I could soup up the Fly sidewinder chassis. As a result of keeping the full interior I also have put in flat lead sheet and the tungsten weight in the magnet slot. The final touch is using the Racer premium wire wheels from my previous 275GTO and the tires. I ran best lap with the body of 4.6 =/-. The chassis alone was 4.4 and very stable.
I am using the Fly 250LM original chassis that was SW to continue to have the lovely interior. i also added the SCC front axle adjustment blocks which were a challenge to install. I really came close to using the 3d inline chassis, but cutting up the interior is no picnic. I am glad two of use may have challenged the sine qua non for a change.
For this series I am not convinced every car should be max winner stuff. The races have definite big gaps in performance but the cars look awesome.
I do have a Cobra hardtop from a few years ago that I never quite got running. I may order the new 3d for that black beast. It even had side pipes from styrene tubes. I did not know the Daytonas had a 427. My Scalextric 427 1972 (?) Greenwood Radial Corvette has the front motor, but I only race it on my short track.
I am happy to run RevoSlot class without other cars.
I agree we need a mid week test and tune. I don’t think we opened the rally track Saturday for practice, and I need the practice. I can get to HQ a little earlier and agree 8 or 8:20 would be good closing time. I have been visiting in afternoon hours since I can skip my nap some days.
I like RevoSlot and would be glad to stick to Revo Slot and the replacement wheels. I wonder if the MCLaren GT1 special car I bought a few years ago by the racing champion MR Slot? would be competitive with Revo?
no two ways about it, buy replacement wheels! I cannot find a website with all of the cars. I have a policar F-40 that we proposed but did not adopt a few years ago. Is it likely to be included in this proposed class.
Targa is soonest series and I could use the practice. I have never been good at it.
The F1 driver has been suspended, but the self driving feature slot will work. Just need Targa practice more.
