I have spent some time looking deeper into the differences between the older Alfa, the newer Alfa and the Opel and Mercedes. I have a list of the cars, along with all the information about them. Please use this information when selecting a car to run in the series.
I am still not opposed to having all A group racers run the Alfa and the B group racers the Opel. We will have to see how they compare before we make a final decision.
Marc – I have everything you need. Everything is in my box that is at the club. Help yourself and let me know what you took.
All – I just received the order of Shore 30 and Shore 25 tires. I have them sitting on top of my pit boxes. Take what you need and just let me know.
I really like Erik’s idea of holding an endurance race of some type. We have run these previously but the challenge is setting up the two person teams. Always a challenge.
Mike – Thanks for reaching out. Good to hear from you. You joined the ASCC on Feb 4th of 2012 with an annual membership. It looks like the membership was not renewed. We send emails for the time you are a member but stop once your membership expires. We also don’t send many emails as we rely on the clubs website as our primary means of communication.
Please come visit us at our new location at 8222 Jamestown, Unit E2. We are there every Saturday and Thursday evenings from 5-9.
We are still completing work on our new facility but we are at least racing again.
Our membership structure has changed along with our new location. We have two levels of membership – a standard membership of $150 per year or a premium membership that is $75 per month. There are benefits for the premium membership like reserved parking, reserved pit box space with the ability to purchase more, reduced race entry fees and a key to the space so it can be used at any time.

The series we did not finish last year were the 1/24 BRM Group C and the Targa Florio on the rally track. We could add those to the calendar as most everyone that was going to race in those series should already have cars. This will help keep the expense down.
What additional series could we run?
I would suggest either a Scalextric or Fly BMW E30 series or a Slot It DTM series
NSR F1 series – this could be run as a El Piloto/IROC style.
NSR Porsche GT2 series – Porsche Cup Series
Ford vs Ferrari series with Slot It Ford GT40’s vs Policar Ferrari P4
After running both shore 30 and shore 25 people I found that the shore 25 tires provided better grip and did not show any excess wear. I have eight pairs of these shore 25 tires arriving Friday and will have them with me at the track on Saturday. I will arrive early so people have time to true up a pair before we race.

You are allowed to make that modification. The Mazda has only been tried once but it, like the other models with wings hanging off the back – Jaguar, Sauber Mercedes and the Nissan – don’t seem to work well on our track. I would love to see you get the Mazda working as you did with the Sauber Mercedes. Good luck.

Wow. Thanks for the information and the option. We are still looking into all the options to see what will work best for everyone in the club. I will keep you in the loop as things move forward.

Thanks so very much for the offer. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I am on vacation and the internet is spotty at best.
At the moment the club is looking into all of the options we have. We will definitely consider your offer as one of those options. Neither of our tracks are very portable so we are looking into options that would allow us to move them whole. We will be in touch.
The axle diameter on the 1/24 scale cars is 3mm – just like the RevoSlot’s. I don’t know which of our truer’s other than the Hudy will work with a 3mm axle. If you can’t find the 3mm axle for the Hudy you can use your BRM axle as the truer axle.
I would not suggest shore 22 tires. Think of the added weight of these cars and the acceleration these cars have coming out of the turns. We run shore 30’s because we have tried 22’s and 15’s in the past only to discover they shred rubber like crazy. You will be surprised at how much rubber comes off of the 30’s much less the 22’s. Having said that, you are more than welcome to try them out. We will allow 22’s and 15’s for those brave enough to run them.
Answers to the points brought up above are listed below.
The rules have been updated to show the new rear wheel/tire spec – Scaleauto SC-2424P.
The hard BRM foam tires put down a layer of harder rubber on the track that is difficult for the softer Scaleauto tires to hook up on. We will be cleaning the track to pull up the hard rubber and put down the softer Scaleauto foam rubber.
I have tried shore 30, shore 22 and shore 15 BRM rubber tires and none of them worked well.
Motors – I personally would not a red motor but I have not actually run one recently. We did run them in some of our previous BRM series. Maybe it could work. I’m not going to try it but its left in the rules in case someone would like to give it a try.
Rear tire specs have been updated. The minimum rear tire diameter at the start of a race is 26.5mm.
Tire Question – This is not some Euro carry over rule. This rule exists in many of the series run in the States. Our truer is not set up for putting a conical shape to the tires but it can easily be done. The purpose is to have a smaller contact patch for front tires so their is less drag when running the large width wheels/tires.
