We’re running the big-dog BRM’s this year… Anyone interested in a Scale Auto modern GT series next year? (I call dibs on the Jag.)

(Leroy Grumman)I’m up for an exhibition race. Goodness knows I have enough Ferrari and Cooper Climax cars for that. And you have the tin-plates…

(Leroy Grumman)I say we forge ahead with things as they are. We learned how to drive to Trans Am cars to good effect and they exhibited the same deslotting/reslotting behavior as the F1’s. Besides, its a bit late to change the theme unless we push the start date back a few weeks.
Thinking out loud here, but I’ve been noodling on the traction magnet issue with this class, and wondered if we simply moved the magnet to the nose of the car so it would help to keep the guide in the slot? That way the car should still drive more naturally, but be less prone to jumping out of the slot. Of course it may also just make it reslot in the adjacent lane quicker too… again.. thinking out loud.

(Leroy Grumman)The race voltage change (11v) has been approved by vote and I have updated the official rules document found here.

(Leroy Grumman)I think we’re all getting pretty good a tuning a chassis. Granted, the only Fly cars I have right now are shelf-queens, I’m certainly open to picking one up to tune and race as long as the rules constrain our selections to keep everything fairly competitive. If we come up with an “approved list” of cars it could be driver’s choice. Following along with Ary’s proxy rules idea…
So yeah… let’s keep the event ideas flowing and follow up with the elible car list, rules, etc…

(Leroy Grumman)I like the proxy rule idea. A team prep’d car that conforms to specs such as motor choice, minimum weight, etc…

(Leroy Grumman)Yep, that’s what I’m talking about. We can select three representative cars, apply a bit of tuning, and then run the wheels off of them. I think it would be fun to come up with some creative scoring as well, so it’s a bit more than a race to 1000. I’m thinking best individual lap, best team lap, best averages, etc…

(Leroy Grumman)Two thumbs up!
Great stats to rattle off when some football nut tries to tell me that race drivers aren’t athletes!
The only thing I think they left out was the temperature inside the cockpit.

(Leroy Grumman)Just reiterating the email here… I’m a tentative “yes” unless family plans trump my own.
