Past Thursday we had a test bracket race and it was fun! We tried different ways to manage the laps for a 4.2 bracket, but the best solution was to change the minimal lap time under Trackmate.
It became clear that you really do not want to go below the bracket time, losing a lap would put you on the back of the pack, the only thing to do after that is to pray that someone else goes below as well.
Brian,
You set the time for your cars, there is no need to have someone else verify it. If, during a 4.3 bracket race, you turn a 4.280 lap, that lap would not count.
Interesting to see that they allow any type of motor for all classes.
I think we could use some of the Sport Cars class 3 standards on our Mille Miglia class:
• Motor orientation: Inline only.
• Front wheels and tyres: Minimum diameter 19mm, minimum width 5mm.
• Rear wheels and tyres: Minimum diameter 21mm, maximum width 7.5mm.
• Minimum ground clearance 2mm.
• Maximum overall width: 57mm.Sports Cars class 5 standards could be used on the Classic GT series:
• Motor orientation: free.
• Front wheels and tyres: Minimum diameter 16mm, minimum width 6mm.
• Rear wheels and tyres: Minimum diameter 19mm, maximum width 12mm.
• Minimum ground clearance 1.5mm.
• Maximum overall width: 64mm.Now, they are classifying GT cars as: “A closed, hard top car with 2 or 2+2 seats and bodywork covering the wheels. Cars in this class would normally be based on road going, hard top, 2 or 2+2 seat production cars.”. Are we only allowing closed cars for our Classic GT Series?
Shawn,
I would say rated so that anyone could get a Scaley, Carrera or Ninco and get it on the track without the need to chance the motor. I’m betting on the wheelbase, track and tire width limitations of those cars to be the equalizer; if that’s not the case we could review the rules, add gear limitations or something of that sort (I really don’t think that we will need something like that).
One thing to remember is that you can use any brand of gears/pinions other than Slot.it, avoiding the problem with their variable pitch gears (10, 11 tooth inline pinions), and getting more RPMs at the wheel without having the car sounding like a Jumbo jet. Scaleuato and BBR (MB Slot) manufacture fixed pitch gear with a separate stop collars — good stuff.
Marty,
I would run all the series on 11 volts. Do you see an issue running BRMs at 11 volts?
Horrible accident, very sad.
What is the wheel size on the actual car? I just hope the new Slot.it LMP does not come with the 15 inch wheels.
I have made my mind to use a different car each race.
Lap times have already been set with the F40 and we/I can use them as a benchmark. I figure I should take the opportunity to play around with different brands, setups, etc; I really do enjoy the mix and match aspect of this series. The F40 was pretty much entirely made of Slot.it parts, I need to do something different now. And hey, I do have another Ferrari ready to race

Russell,
It took me 3 months but I got it done. Thanks for the tutorial.

Marty,
There are 3 F1 races left on the series.
Jim,
BRMs are done for this year, competition-wise; we can always run an informal race.
The Sloting Plus cars would cost U$165 shipped last time I checked (that was removing VAT but paying shipping costs). Each white kit Megane is listed for U$130 at Alan’s store — but there not yet available.
Regarding F1: I don’t even want to talk about changing schedule for this year … but I will race whatever the majority wants.
Got a few things I would like feedback on:
1st – Now that we know El Piloto was one of the top choices for series in 2012, I would like to propose running them throughout the year – that would be one race per month on a off-Saturday.
2nd – I would like to know from the participants if you would prefer to run the Sloting Plus Reynard 2KQ (1/32 scale) or the new BRM Megane (1/24 scale).
— to run the BRM Megane we would need to rund at least 12 races due to the cost of the cars.
Let me know.
Here is the Sloting Plus Reynard:

Here is the BRM Megane:

We would be buying white kits on the Megane – U$ 130 a pop.
Is that a fact or rummor?
In any case, it still is the best option IMO .. I guess I will need to buy some alum wheels.
