Series Manager – Marc T. (aka Datto)
Period: July – September (Two rounds per month)

The end of an era.  The time of race cars wearing their national colors, rather than the Colors of Benneton was coming to a close.

Join the discussion for Targa Florio 1966 to 1969 over in our forums.

Fees:   $5 ASCC Premium Members,  $10 ASCC Standard Members, $15 non-members.

      Models Allowed

Any car that was entered in the Targa Florio in the years 1966, ‘67, ’68, and ’69.  Cars that were DNS, or DNF are fine.

Any slot car that is a reasonably scale depiction of the above.  Must be within 12% of 1/32 scale plus or minus.  That is a 24% window.  Thunderslot models, for example, are too over-wide, and are not eligible. Cars must have driver figure and Steering wheel.  Lightweight interiors are okay.  Glazing must be in place.  If your car has a navigator figure, you do not need to remove it if you want to keep it un-modified.  Historic liveries are not required, but very much encouraged.  Avoid duplicate liveries if at all possible.

Please post a picture of your car(s) Model, or 1:1 to the rules thread, so we can get an idea of what cars and liveries will be entered.

Riffing off of Steve’s work (to which I get an “Access Denied” message, but I’m sure that’s just due to my dysfunctional relationship with Google). I merged and deduplicated the cars and then created a table indicating which year(s) they ran.  Image of that table below and attached the Excel workbook for those that want to sort and filter.

Are we going to have some slot car versions of the cars banned from our series like the Ferrari ban last time we raced?

Starting work on the Targa rules. Series is going to be pretty wide-open setup wise, but will be cracking down on grossly overscale (over wide) models. Attaching a sample scale worksheet form in pages and word formats.

Randy, if it was entered in the targa, it’s eligible.

I’m looking forward to the challenge of repainting one of my GT40 bodies and getting the decals on there for this livery… that graffiti looks familiar!

Nice livery. I think John is planning something similar.

I will be fielding this gal, the number 216 Lola T70 MKIII driven in the 1967 Targa Florio.  (Assuming the Fly body meets the scale specs.)

                          Model: Fly Lola white kit.
Decals from: Le Mans Decals. They have a dedicated Targa Florio section

I have three cars to choose from for the Targa Florio,  Is the Rally Track functioning for testing with timing working?  If not, when?

I am trying to wrap my head around an NSR up against a ThunderSlot, Slot. It, or Fly. I think Fly has the most authentic looking Targa Florio models. But, I don’t know a thing about Fly. Haven’t owned one. NSR models seem big for the Rally track. I have a …

                                  ThunderSlot 350 1967 CAN-AM, Chris Amon #23, Riverside
ThunderSlot Lola T70 MK 3 1968, Patrick Jorden #9, Sebring
Slot.It Ford GT40 1966 MK 2, Ken Miles and Danny Hulme #1, Le Mans

All three have the same wheel base and tire size. The 350 seems smaller but it is not. Women look thinner in red or black. ThunderSlots have the 21,500 rpm motor and the Slot.It has a 23,000. I am assuming I can run any of these 3 cars. Right?

And, someone who’s more familiar with the rally track, what tires?
