The final round of the 2015 Scalextric Lightning GT race was held last Saturday. As the top three finishing positions in the two groups had already been decided, everyone drove their own car for this last race. The Stig made an appearance in Steve’s modified car and drove to a new track record of 243 laps and a fastest lap of 3.396. David solidified his Group B lead with an overall win of the standard cars. Brett came in second and I came in third and best-in-class. Mark was fourth and John came in fifth in his first magnet-car race. Kyle rounded out the field. Four drivers had missing laps adjusted, but it did not change the finishing order. As usual, the pace was furious and kept the marshals busy.
Steve took the series win in Group A, I was second and Jordan was third. David and Rich had a pretty good battle in Group B with David winning and Rich following. Third place was also a close battle with both Mark and Brett finishing with 79 points, but Brett come out ahead on laps, 1061.65 to 1004.34.
The series was an interesting change-of-pace. There were initial teething problems, but I hope everyone enjoyed the experiment.
