I’m in with the BMW Bank #27443.
Marty,
Do we know the controller interface of that track? (XLR, alligator)
We have been running these cars in Tyler for a couple of years. We have had good luck with them. I would recommend replacing the nylon pinion with a brass or steel pinion. You can super glue the nylon pinions, but they always cause problems eventually.

Stellar, I have the #39 Slot It Gulf McLaren F1 but an angle winder which runs well on our club’s track, I’ve replaced the stock plastic spur with 1 tooth larger ergal to enable a bit more speed on the 22 foot straight, 16 and 14 foot straights. Our club allows magnets (as many as the car will naturally hold, i.e., only in the areas MADE for them on the chassis) so, added a C7 at the rear and use Slot It’s 51mm hollow axles, CB Design Insert 17X11 rear, 17X8 front and trued the car’s original wheels to fit inside giving a stock appearance (all the racers at our club do do it to keep the stock appearance, so, nothing new there) with Quick Slicks on the rear, 0 Grips front (rear and fronts trued) and finished by lightly sanded the motor pod and chassis to remove flashing and allow movement on both with the body BUT had not thought about flattening the chassis OR using Slot It’s wood track guide. Fantastic videos and tutorial, I’m both amazed and grateful
All the best.
I just looked at Scaley’s website again and they have the cost of the chassis. It’s 5 pounds for the chassis alone. It look like you have to supply all the other bits to make it work. As most of us have tons of spares, this shouldn’t be to hard to get a car up and running. There are 2 chassis coming out. The McLaren P1 and BMW Z4.
Mike Ryan at it again!
Brian,
If you are going to modify the list, slotforum is one I use (if it can be added).
I think we can count on some dupes except for those who have time to build a custom livery, since there are only two off the shelf choices.
Thanks for the pics Ary.
We will have lasting memories of that night. It was also great Shawn was able to make it back – I really appreciate that.
Also thanks for the hats, I will wear it at our next club night and take a pic.
We cannot get over how hospitable most people were in Austin. Even at the races, from people sitting around us to the officials. Some gave us souvenirs and the officials shook our hands and thanked us (most Aussies) as we left on the Sunday. Austin is certainly on our bucket list to return.
I thought the (COTA) track was a little to wide for some action racing and not a lot of places for overtaking. Hopefully (next year) they will put some tyre walls a few places to make it more exciting,
I’m back in the real worl at present and work is starting to get in my way
but will post some of our slot stuff when I get a chance.Mel
Great to catch up with you guys. Thanks for the Texan BBQ (it was great) and thanks for a making us feel welcome.
Unfortunately we are now back in LA and flying home tonighgt.
I will be back on here once I get onto a more reliable and faster server.
Cheers Mel (and Jeanette)

Was a pity Brian had to go early
What tires are everyone running for building/testing/tuning?
What are the required rear tires for this series. Ary’s change and the published rules do not match.
Thanks
March 28, 2013 at 11:17 AM in reply to: Upgrading / tuning a Scalextric GT McLaren MP4-12C for non-magnet wood track racing #1875WOW Nice work and great description. What is even more impressive is that I understood 95% of what you were doing and why. Still wondering how you came up with: With the RPM reading in hand, I check the best gear ratio in order to obtain ~7800 RPM at the wheel. Why 7800 RPMs? When you increased weight how did that change the ratio?
I just recently spoke with the folks at Osterero in Italy, and they are working with another Italian company to produce decals to make cars from the second tier F1 teams- Force India, Caterham, Marussia, Sauber, and Williams. My only concern is whether there will be enough room inside to place Slot-it Oxigen chips. I guess I’ll find out soon enough. If any of you have one of these already, I would love to see it. Please contact me at your convenience.
count me in for the endurance race
