Ok – no grabbers unless needed. Maybe some foot-stools for us short guys? LOL

It looks like the track software will need to be edited for the Christmas party Gumball race; the software will not count a lap faster than 3.4 sec.It looks like many of the usual chassis tuning, such as drag from the front wheels, independent front wheels, ball bearings, and any of the usual rolling resistance tweaks will be of lesser importance. Compared to the drag from magnets, the usual drag issues are, comparatively, much smaller.
The biggest tuning issue may well be the tradeoff between greater downforce, compared to the induced drag from the downforce."... get on your bad motor scooter and ride!"

I figure that we will need 5 marshals per race instead of 3. One at the north corner, one at the esses, one at the bridge. At the south end one person on the corner and the fifth person manning the button and marshalling from the corner to the driver station.

Sammy with MontroseThanks for the clarifications Marty! I assume after cleaning the track and the discussions regarding rubber tires the rules may be changing again regarding using ‘rubber’ Shore-30s and perhaps different Max/Min ODs?
BTW – after you left I put on some BRM rubber tires with Pink motor and got some reasonable traction as I added some rubber to the track."... get on your bad motor scooter and ride!"

— The posted BRM GP-C rules seem to be missing the update regarding the Scaleauto ProComp SC2424p rear wheel tire assemblies. The BRM S-021SS are still spec’ed.
— Sponge/foam tires typically work best with some corresponding product on the track. Remember that when we ran at Dallas the track had a very light glue on it (it was not ‘tire cleaner’) that they also used for sprint races and other 1/24 classes.
— Have the 22-Shore BRM tires (S-020S) been tested? …just asking…
— MOTORS – so Pink has lowest RPM but most TQ (340gm); has anyone tested the Red motor with 212gm TQ – perhaps there would be less fishtails with the lower torque?
— RANDY – it’s ‘rear tires … not less than 27.5mm …’ (1) this happens to be the stock diameter of the SC2424p so the implication is that only basic truing is allowed/or needed (2) a smaller O.D. either by wearing or truing would be a slight advantage from getting the CG lower.?? TIRE QUESTION – What does this statement mean ‘You are not allowed to true any tires with an angled profile’? I don’t think we have a razor style truer that would make tapered cone shapes possible.
Is this just another Cling-on from the specs inherited from Alan’s series (inherited from Euro rules)?"... get on your bad motor scooter and ride!"

Sammy with MontroseYeah … that is a ‘goldilocks’ doc – “just right” amount of verbiage – Thanks Marty!
Randy – your point is good – so basically don’t glue in the weights until a few rounds of practice with sponge tires hints that you actually need weights. Some up front or in the center is highly probable (based on experience in Dallas in 2014-15 with these – but that was a longer track with less tricky turns).

1. Go and create a new forum – and copy the posts – this thread is early enough for it to not be a chore or risk losing any continuity. I suggest using “2019 – BRM Group-C” (or something similar) to be consistent with our other series forums.
2. You can contact Brian and/or Ary on how to rename a forum. I experimented with this forum (to replace the ! with a ‘1’) and the new WordPress makes it very confusing, (plus the new version works better on Chrome) and I appear to be locked from making such edits (even in HTML).

Sammy with MontroseI am not a big fan of HobbyTown (round rock) but was there this weekend and they have some cool 1/43 cars – Cobras, Stangs and I think a Merc. I have a modified Carrera Ferrari 458 with a hot FF motor that I’d like to try on Marc’s track!

Sammy with MontroseMy $1.38 – If we can practice on the main road course any time why can’t we practice on the rally course ‘any time’? Our practice times are already fairly predictable – Thurs nights, Sat post-race and Sundays (for Marty) so why not follow the same pattern for the Rally?
Randy’s idea of a sign-up list sounds interesting[1]Dave is Series Manager so the decisions should be up to him – he can (1) set certain days or (2) make it ‘open’, or (3) close the course until race day. Next year’s SM may make other decisions. If Marty needs to practice on Sundays and wants help with the covers (esp. if he has to take care of Jensen) I will be glad to meet him at Kings to help him [1] and I’m sure others would also.
TRIVIA Last year I don’t think Shawn had much practice and he was consistently in the top two. Plus – there are a few guys who rarely practice on the road course and consistently do very well, and others who *can’t* practice much but are improving dramatically (e.g. John). I would hate to be told I can’t practice because someone else is not able to practice (unless it is a clear, established part of the series rules from the beginning). Heck I need more practice than anyone!
Some key criteria for the Rally practice are:
(a) You can get someone to help you with the covers (even Mark H, Rudy, Don)
(b) You can coordinate with Rudy to have the top cleared (or his OK to move the consignment stock to the south-side pit bench.)
(c) Look UNDER the track for the green extension cord I put there – plug into the power strip under Russell’s pit box.
(d) Know how to use the practice software.
(e) Be very Gentle with the computer and all its cords – when pulling it out/in.
(f) Be very careful putting the covers back on and always replace the tarp."... get on your bad motor scooter and ride!"
Sammy with MontroseI did not do it but I will put the wheels/tires in a bag on the cork board (assuming they are still good) and clean the machine (I also cleaned it last Saturday).

Sammy with MontroseRadial-TA – can you rename this discussion from “BRM !/24 Tires”
to “2019 BRM Group-C”
Cheers!
