I practiced on the rally track last Thursday during the day. I had a noisy car that got quiet without the body, and noisy with the body. It was the loose Lexan interior picking up and amplifying every vibration. Cured that with strategic dots of Shoo Goo. Ran some more rally track laps and could hear a “click” twice on the long straight. (My front tires are not excessively trued.) One click where the spring loaded guide compresses a the first valley-to-uphill transition, and once after the hump on the next valley-to-uphill transition. Testing showed the guide tapping the chassis. No dragging or scraping the track.
On the rally track the speed is less, so the Lexan vibrates much less, but was still noticeable. Without the timer running I have no idea how well it was running, but my 914/6 seemed faster immediately after the RevoSlot runs.
March 26, 2023 at 6:25 PM #18874As I’m finishing up the assembly of my white kit, I must say that I’m impressed with the quality. Very little, if any flashing. Nothing warped in a weird way that requires any kind of remediation. It all just fits. And the chassis is mostly easy-peasy. If I have one small gripe, it is that the thickest body post shims don’t quite get the rear tires to clear the rear fenders at the width the tires are forced to with the box-stock axle spacers. Nothing that a bit of shimming or filing won’t fix.
Hat’s off to BRM/Revoslot!
Build it strong.
Keep it simple.
Make it work.
(Leroy Grumman)March 29, 2023 at 5:45 PM #18875Bellator, that wrap looks great! I decided to try hydro-dipping with mine, given the looming deadline of the race. Have you been able to source any instructions for the white kits? I have the Escort and am trying to figure it out with photos of the liveries they make, but instructions sure would speed things along. I am looking forward to showing off my hydro-dip. It’s pretty far out. 🙂
April 17, 2023 at 9:04 PM #18919Revo has come out with a new Group 2 car The Opel. We have a few in the club that would like to see this run. I’m going to allow this. I know it’s late to be adding cars so let me know if this causes a problem
May 13, 2023 at 12:28 PM #19013Looking at the cars as a whole I believe this was not run using rally cars because during the recent event someone pointed out my Alfa and other cars lacked navigators. Mine is a model of a SCCA track car, as are others. We should have called this a hill climb rather than rally. Oh well.
May 13, 2023 at 8:13 PM #19014Trying to debug the guide jamming problem and discovered the wires were grabbing the front wheel axle holders. I tied the wires together close to the front, and the wires are behaving, as is the car. I also changed to the deep wood guide which is short tailed already. No noticeable difference until I fixed the wire binding problem. I am hearing some thumping on the crossover joint.
