I would agree that the fewer rules, the better.
Carrera and SCX both have Trans Am cars but I don’t think they would be competitive.
T/A first would be fine.
Also,I had an idea for another type of race; we take turns driving the same car. This could be an informal, run anytime, spur-of-the-moment deal.
Say, one person offers one of his cars to run. Everyone gets two minutes to practice and set their controllers, then does a two minute run for fastest lap and most laps run. This could be done in driver’s choice of lane or a lane could be specified that everyone would run. We could each make runs in all three lanes but it would be longer, especially for the guys not running. If we did that I would recommend each person gets one minute of warmup in each of the other two lanes, then their two-minute run. This would speed things up and keep the pressure on.
We could draw straws for running order, except that the person whose car it was would always run last.
This race would be like Monday Night Football was originally, where all the other teams would be watching, so the two teams were playing in front of their peers.
As I said, this would be informal and could be run any time a group of us were together, Thursday,Sunday,etc. There would be no entry fee.
