This seems to be more a debate on manufactures than events. Are there specific manufactures we looking to avoid for race events?
For the Targa there are many options from different manufactures. Fly, Slot It, MRRC, Ninco, Scalextric, Sloter, Racer and numerous other resin manufactures. There are almost too many choices. It might be better if we choose a specific window of time. 1960 to 1969 would be my first choice. I could develop a list of possible cars and manufactures that would be applicable for that time frame.
We could also run a race for World Sports Car’s from 1970 and 1971 that would include the 917’s and 908’s vs. Ferrari 512’s and 312P’s (I would still vote to allow the 312PB’s variants to compete). Many different manufactures make both cars and it could be fun to watch them run together.
On a side note – the Porsche 917K never raced at the Targa. Vic Elford ran a test run in one to appease the head of Porsche racing Ferdinand Piech. The car proved too big and heavy for the smaller Sicilian roads.
