Final Races in Classic GT and El Piloto

The final races in both the Classic GT and El Piloto series will be held and there is still some podium spots up for grabs.  Let’s start with the Classic GT series.

This series has been all about Russell and his beautiful custom Fly/Slot It Ferrari GTO in the Penske livery.  This car has been the class of the field and is all but untouchable.  Not only is the car super-fast and stable it is also one of the most beautiful cars we have seen.  Russell’s attention to detail and finish are a thing of club legend and this car is no different.  His point total almost assures him of first place.  The only thing that could de-rail his top spot on the podium is a DNF due to a rare mechanical.  Russell has already missed a round in the series and missing one more could leave the door open for second place to steal the number one spot.

The second spot is almost a lock for Marty and his electric hybrid Toyota GT2000.  The car has found some speed in the last two races and although equal with Russell on points Marty has run one more round than Russell.  Still a poor race by Marty could make it possible for the current third place car to move up.

That third place car is one belonging to Ary.  Have you ever raced against Ary when it was for a position?  Good luck!  Ary will be driving like a mad man to take all the points for this round.  If he does he can take second place from Marty.  Ary has run a different car in each round and it will be interesting to see what he chooses for the last round in the series.  Something fast I suppose.

The El Piloto series is a little more interesting because the battles for the final places are much closer.  Shawn and Marty are fighting for the top spot having both run five round and separated by only three points with Shawn on top with 44 points to Marty’s 41.  A good race and a fast lap could put Marty on top.  This is definitely Shawn’s race to lose and Marty’s to win.

The next place is WIDE open.  There are effectively four people in running for the third spot on the podium.  There are too many variations of who and where they finish to cover there but let’s just say its going to be fun to watch.

The BRM-El Piloto racing is always close but knowing it all comes down to this final race will make this race all that much more fun to watch and even more fun to run!  If you are not racing I suggest you check out USTREAM on Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm.  After all, there is no other racing on so you might as well watch us!

I also want to take some time to send a special thank you to Ary for all the time he spent preparing the El Piloto cars throughout this past year.  No matter what we did to the cars, and we did some crazy things to them, they were always put back together and race tuned by the next event.  Just think about how hard it is for you to get your own cars ready to race much less have to prep three identical BRM’s so we could go out and run the hell out of them.  Thank you very much Ary!!!

Let’s hope this weekend’s racing is good and the mechanical gremlins stay out of the picture.  Good luck to everyone in both series!
