The second round of the DTM series was attended by six racers – three new ones and three from the first round. There were five racers absent in this round that did attend the first round.
The A Group racers on hand were David, Ary and Russell. All very fast racers with any of them being able to take a win. The B Group was comprised of Alejandro, Mark and John.
The first heat had David set the mark with a total of 71 laps with John having a great run with 65 laps and Alejandro with 62.
The second heat had the race of the day with Ary and David matching each other lap for lap right up to the last minute of the race where David pulled ahead with a two lap lead.
The third heat had Russell join the group but at the end of the heat it was Ary with a strong run of 72 laps compared to Russell’s 70 and John’s strong run of 65 laps.
The fourth heat had Mark join in with Russell and Ary. Ary finished with 71 laps to Russell’s 69. Mark had a good first run with 64 laps.
The fifth heat had Russell with a great run of 71 laps, his best of the three heats, while the two B Group racers were very close. Mark had 64 laps to Alejandro’s 66.
The sixth and final heat of the day had David finish with another strong heat of 72 laps with Alejandro running 66 to Mark’s 65.
At the end of the day it was David with the win, Ary in second place one lap behind and Russell in third four laps down on the leader. Group B was won by Alejandro with John in second less than one lap behind and Mark in third only a tenth of a lap behind John.
Great racing action with no racer running away from the group. I am sure those racers that came out for the first time will be better prepared for the next race as it takes one race to get a feel for these Shapeways/Carrera cars. You can run all you want on Thursday practices but until you are racing you will never really know what your car is capable of.
Thanks to all the racers that came out to run.
