Round 2 of the third quarter of the 2011 Slot.it Challenge was the first race for the majority of the drivers on the track. This lead to a number of deslots as drivers got used to their new cars, or discovered that there cars needed additional tuning. Even with the first runs for so many drivers, there were three drivers in this race that recorded times under 4.0 seconds!
Marty turned in the most consistent runs, followed closely by Jim, Russell, and Roy. It is remarkable that the top 4 positions were separated by only 3 laps when the checkered flag came down. The field gets closer and closer with each passing race! Ary, usually at or near the head of the pack, had a screw come loose in the chassis, requiring a pit stop for repairs and Brian’s new Mazda had too much grip, causing very unforgiving handling in the corners.
It will only get more interestiing as cars get tuned in to late late summer performance curve. (And if it finally cools off by a few degrees its anyone’s bet at how the field will change!)
