Tires were the topic of the day, with all drivers struggling for traction. Some were experiencing severe chatter while others were collecting enough clag off the track to convert their wheels from round rollers to square thumpers.
The mysterious aspect to this phenomenon was that we had a fairly common track temperature of 79.5 degrees F. What we weren’t able to record was the humidity on the track that day, which may have ultimately been the catalyst for such wild tire performance.
In spite of the challenges racers still turned in several solid drives, but lap times and totals were off by a bit, reminiscent of rounds one and two instead of the improvements we might expect by round 4. David C. continues his march up the leaderboard after this session, moving into second place, but still 10 points and 27 laps behind Marty M. The remaining podium positions are much closer, separated by only two points and a handful of laps. With two rounds to go, I think we are in for some close finishes.
