Racer Sideways Group 5 Race Series – Round #5

The fifth round of the Racer Sideways Group 5 race had a familiar look to the last round with the results being very similar. Randy’s Gold Leaf Ford Capri was the stable car that took the steady road to victory with a total of 209.75 laps while Marty’s black Lancia Stratos was just one lap behind the Capri. The Lancia was the fastest car of the day with a fast lap of 3.926 but it was also the hardest to drive. Russell’s Jägermeister BMW 320 was a strong contender finishing in the third spot only one lap down to the Lancia. John’s Olympus BMW M1 was in fourth place with 203.08 laps and Mark’s Koni BMW M1 was in fifth place only a quarter of a lap behind John’s car.
The overall standings have Marty’s Lancia well in the lead with 102 points. It will be hard to catch the Lancia without it having a DNF in the final round. The race for second place on the podium is close with 93 points for Randy and his Capri and 92 points for Russell and his BMW 320. These two cars will be fun to watch in the final round as they battle it out for the second and maybe top spot on the podium. Fourth place is Mark with 87 points. He is not too far out to take a podium spot if he has a great race. John’s BMW is in fifth place with 82 points. John could possibly take third but everything would have to go his way for that to happen.
The final round on June 12th at 1pm central time should be fun to watch with so many final places up for grabs. You can watch the racing live on the clubs YouTube channel. I can’t wait!
